This is what’s wrong with this country….absolutely zero understanding of cause and effect relationship. Not saying what he did to the suspect or putting his hands on the officer was right, but what did you think was going to happen after you put your hands on a fellow officer? And you wonder why people ask “let me talk to your supervisor” thinking that is going to help your situation. 😂. No you dummies, no one "sat around" and watched. The officer who took action was the first one to respond. Obviously someone had to respond first. That's a no-brainer. That does not mean because she responded first, other officer were not gonna respond. Had someone responded 2 seconds before her, then you'd be saying she didn't do anything but sit there. This is a chronological issue you have formed from your assumption. Secondly, something was done about it, s there is no issue of anyone "sitting around". She pulled the guy off, problem solved. Thirdly, even if that were the case that they all sat around, you folks need to learn to stop blaming innocent cops for every g'dam thing a bad cop does. It's ridiculous and sickening. Some cops don't intervene because they could lose their g'dam job. Who TF wants to go through all thehardshipof becoming a police officer on top of tending a 6 month rigorous academy, go thoug1 year of probation and serve for 5,6, 7 years, drawing closer to retirement to lose it all because you told your lieutenant to stop?!? That's not reasonable. Anyone with a brain would let h legal system handle the situation. Citizens who've had their rights violated by police know how to put in lawsuits. It doesn't take another police officer to lose their job. Fourthly, cops who often intervene and stop other officers can be reprimanded, mistreated by coworkers and lose camaraderie. This is not something you want as a police officer. That's why cops allow citizens to report police misconduct. Don't get me wrong, it would be better for police to report it, but the repercussions on a cops personal life can be brutal. In so many words many officers are scared to stop other officers from committing misconduct. You can't blame them for being human. We have courts to handle police misconduct. The only reason the officer stepped in in this situation because it was escalating way past the point of sensibility. Otherwise she would not have stop him.

She wasn't so much de-escalating the situation as she was trying to control it, even inappropriately grabbing the sergeant and pulling him away. Let me get this right: she felt she had the authority to put hands on a fellow officer and drag him away for engaging in heated rhetoric with a handcuffed suspect, for making a SHOW, not USE, of force with pepper spray? Sorry to play devil's advocate, but she was the one in the wrong here. I didn't see his hands around her neck either. I saw his palm at the base of her neck and applying pressure to back her away. That wasn't appropriate; I grant that, but neither was pulling him away. I give her props for being a tough woman, though. He was a big dude and she pulled him away with some ease. let's use some common sense here. The suspect had assaulted people and was why they were called out, and then they had to "try" to place him into the patrol car, meaning he was most likely resisting. He was no doubt running his mouth, making threats, and even had his legs out the door ready to kick. The officer shook up some spray as a SHOW, not USE, of force. He was completely justified with his actions with the suspect. The subordinate officer's OPINION about the officer's professionalism and blah, blah, blah doesn't give her the right to put hands on a fellow officer. I wish the sergeant wouldn't have pushed her back, though, because it completely flips the narrative around, and I'm so sick of bad behavior being overlooked because of shifting narratives. sick of it.

I couldn't agree more. Imagine for one moment if instead of winning a free lifetime vacation for criminal behavior (suspended with pay) dirty cops were given double the minimum sentence for any conviction as would be given to a civilian. After all bad behavior is supposed to be discouraged not rewarded as with the current system. Police should be held up to a much higher standard and higher degree of training not just high level tactical de-escalation tactics but also years of psychology and mental illness training along with regular in depth psychological assessments. We don't need more police we need much higher caliber police from within the same communities in which they live.

A couple of things are wrong here: (1) assaulting an Officer is a felony offense that could easily cost you your life if you're a civilian, (2) the victim of this 'crime' is a woman, and (3) the 'perpetrator' is uniformed, ranked Officer, (4) some 'do nothing' Officers stood by and watch this assault and didn't stop it. The 'bully, bad cop' Sergeant needs to do some time in jail after the Badge has been permanently taken away from him and those 'by-stander' Officers need some disciplinary actions taken against them by their PD.

In an ideal society, yes bro, all of that would 100% happen. And I agree with you that that would be a just and correct judgement.
