Lyrics
Storming through the kitchen just to find a jar of mayo
While I'm packing lunch for a trip on my Winnebago
As a kid, made it big, and they all knew me by name
My old punk rock band got me money and fame
Hanging out at the golf course on the weekend
Acting chummy, trading stocks with my best friends
I had to pick up my prescription at the drugstore
I remember it’s the first time that I realized…
I'm getting old, and life is a nightmare
I'm getting old, I just found my first gray hair
Nobody cares, cause all the kids in today’s
pop punk scene were born after
19, 19, 1999
Woohoohoo, 1999
I won’t say goodbye
I’m getting older all the time
And though I’m not as relevant
My old songs are pretty sweet
Please don't mind what I’m trying to say cause I,
I like the nostalgia when I hear you…
… tell me my band is here to stay
even though we don't wanna change
Modern musicians really freakin’ blow
I was once full of joy
What happened to Fall Out Boy?
They’re not the band that they once were
Now they’re all superstars, forgot about their guitars
Those days have turned into one big blur
Give me a reason
to go see a doctor
to schedule a date for
a prostate exam
It might hurt to piss
Doesn’t mean that I will go
You better keep your thumb away from me
Don’t tell me I’m at that age and
Don’t call me old, don’t call me old
Don’t call me old, don’t call me old
I don’t even relate to the youth
I don't wanna do the things they do
I'm never gonna get the memes they make
And I don't ever wanna, I don’t ever
wanna be a millennial idiot
They all like that boy band from Australia
Why should I cater to their entitlement?
Those selfish little pampered millennials
Whoa, you should speak for yourself
You’re not the only old-school Warped band
Whoa, I’m pushing 30, doing well for myself
And I’m still pretty relevant
I got your drift, girl
Female singer, count me in
‘cause I realize now why all these artists don’t end
up has-beens
It might take some time, a little bit of
planning with my record label, everything, everything
will be just fine, collaborate, with Taylor Swift
We’ll just sell out, sell out
Drop a song, on KZbin
You should all sit back, watch closely as I go mainstream
We're selling out now, and we’re changing our sound
Much bigger than the early 2000s
I'll chart as number one on Billboard
I’ve lost some respect, but I’ll just ignore it
If I could travel time things would get better
Relive the glory days and rock forever
Say it ain't so,
It will not grow,
I need a moment,
In the bathroom
I know I still
can be your thrill,
The night will go on,
The night will go on,
My little blue pill

This started out being hilarious then I got emotional, not because I'm getting old, but because I just lost one of my best friends. We used to listen to all of this music together, and it hurt to realize again that she won't grow any older than 31. Sorry to bring down the vibe, but damn, music is a major trigger of grief. I'm grateful for the memories these songs churn up 💗

Ginger Ruparts Yeah. They have too much of a stadium, anthem, Bon Jovi sound to them now. They got rid of their guitars and their rhythm and snarky, clever lyrics. I guess I don't see what people still like about them... I mean they're pop music essentially now. They're about as "rock" as Twenty One Pilots. And they're not rock.
@gingerr8015
@gingerr8015 8 жыл бұрын
OH, HELLO THERE I still like them because of their old stuff and I'm trying to give their new stuff a chance. Yes its not really rock but I think its better than the other pop songs that are out there. Also they never really cared about boundaries and they never really had a perfect place in music or fit in at festivals. I can respect them for doing what they want. They are hoping their fans will realize this is what they want to do and maybe have a change of heart.

+OH, HELLO THERE I dunno man. There's quite a lot of guitar on AB/AP, I think more so than their previous album. Plus they did that punk rock EP in between the releases. I do agree that they're trying to hard to be anthemic though

I often say I being born 5 years earlier would have been fun. I was born in 1999 so by the time I was old enough to really get most of this music it was gone sadly. That would have put me at 18 right at 2012. I would have gotten to spend more time with my grandfather too. He passed in 2016.

Technically 'Millenials' are being labeled as being born from as early as the early-mid 80's. and ending at about the late 90's to early 2000's. So as a 22 year old, you fall into that catagory. I say, assuming I haven't missed the point. Nitpicking aside, this mix kicked all the ass. It hit my right in the punk skater teenager I used to be, XD 2004 was the shit man.

this might be kind of a sillymashup spoof, but there's some powerful lyrics in it that i love. "And I don't ever wanna, I don’t ever wanna be a millennial idiot. They all like that boy band from Australia. Why should I cater to their entitlement? Those selfish little pampered millennials" and "If I could travel time things would get better, Relive the glory days and rock forever." I was born in 1986 and I miss my childhood/youth very badly. Thanks for making this song, it's a great tip of the hat to our best years.

Late 90's and early 2000's songs were punk rock songs. I still like them but honestly I don't hear them everyday. Punk movement was born to raise a voice of dissatisfaction, discontent and detachment and to question the established social norms. Musically punk is not the best version of rock, most of songs have simple melodies but punk is awesome because of what it want to say. Nowadays many people have their minds so occupied with "use and throw", consumerism and immediacy in music that old styles are forgotten. It's good to see many of you still listening to this music😀
