I do not use any trailers on them. I've seen guys doing that, and they seem to catch fish like that too. I never use trailers, and I still catch fish on them. So take that as you will. So I just picked up at dicks sporting goods the tsunami trophy 2 10ft medium heavy to put with my penn battle 6k. Let me tell you it seemed like a great idea for me but I'm a short guy and I loved the 9ft prevail with my 3500 daiwa bg SO much and thought I needed a large reel for that 10ft rod of the tsunami. I'm looking at the 4500bg but idk. But bought the trophy 2 10ft because of yalls review on the 8ft version and just wanted that little extra reach with a new rod to replace my 10ft prevail(which is now a Back up) and so thank you both for the help. But what yall recommend for a great reel for under $150 for the reel that would be fantastic to slap on the trophy? I'd go up maybe to $175 but out of my reach any more than that. Awesome man! The 10ft trophy 2 is a great rod. That’s the rod Erica caught her 50+ on a couple years ago. (She’s 5 foot..100lbs soaking wet). If you could save up a little more, the Penn Spinfisher Vi 5500 is a great reel, one that I’ve been using for a while. That’s $230 ish. However, I fish with the DAIWA BG 5000s hard in the surf (don’t dunk them, or set them in sand, if you do, take it home and clean it out). Those reels are like $100. Good luck out there man! You’ve got some great gear!
