I'm a father of 73, one with a son who grew from fresh smelling babe to tall, proud Lt. Commander in the U.S. Navy in just a blink of the eye. Watching as your child grows and moves on is one of the most terrifying, moving, heart breaking (in a great way) journeys anyone can take. This song captures it and moves me to tears of joy...nostalgia...love in its purest forms.

As a Jewish father of four children and nine grandchildren this song always brings tears to my eyes. God Bless

Tears, yes. I'm the mother of three boys and 5 grandsons. I still long for one or two days when they were little boys. The MoTab should perform Sabbath Prayer. I'm a member of this Church but have Jewish ancestry. Proud of both heritages.

When I was a senior in High School we did the musical Fiddler on the Roof, I was the youngest daughter Chava and when we sang this song I had to look happy, but It was so much deeper for me as I was applying for college, graduating High School and my dad was in the musical, so it made it so much harder for me not to cry as I realized this song might have been for the play but in a way it was my life at that moment. I love this song and as I sit here in my college dorm I can't help but remember that time in my Senior year of High School.

+Eleanor Ligon WOW!! I have no doubt that song moved your soul very deeply at that moment!! This song is so beautiful and so heartbreaking at the same time--can't think of any song that speaks to our mortality as profoundly as "Sunrise Sunset" does!!

It is no easier for loving fathers who send their daughters off into the world. I have often cried to this song as my daughters have left the home for college or marriage. It truly speaks to the progress of life, its highs and lows.

At 3:32, it looked like the kite was carrying the little boy away but the father guided the child onto his shoulder instead. It's a magical bit of imagery for such a stirring song. The movie taught me so much about faith - more than any catechism class. When I was younger, I couldn't understand why Tevye wouldn't accept Chava's decision. Stronger today in my faith (as a Christian, ironically), I understand completely. I don't mean to say Chava was wrong, but that's just the point: we all make our own decisions about what's important to us. Chava made hers and Tevye's was to hold on to what made him whole; to what I'm sure he wanted to have passed on to Chava. He loved his daughter, but he could not accept her decision. I understand now that those are mutually exclusive.
