I just watched an O'Reilly video that said to start with the air and didn't mention anything about being very careful. I'm SO glad that video linked to THIS video!!! I just bought a 2012 Dodge Journey that has a water issue and I'm sure it's the sunroof and now that I watched THIS video, I know how to fix it!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Great tip using the gas powered grass trimmer line. Thanks for making this video.

Thanks, man! I havent used my sunroof in a year and have it taped up because i didnt even know there were lines that could be clogged. Randomly saw a mention of it a couple of weeks ago and its finally warm enough tomorrow to give it a try without freezing. Appreciate the tips.

This worked for me and finally solved my leak on my 2008 Mazda CX9. Infinite thanks; I unsuccessfully tried tons of other things (air conditioning drain under the car, leaves in wheel well, windshield).

I agree with Steve. Using weed wacker line was a good idea.
@RHCPFAN-yk6sw4 жыл бұрын
Maybe it was just the wacker like that I used, but it wasn’t rigid enough. I just took a couple shots of compressed air to it, and it drained out all of the water. Did the water test, and drained out perfect. Thanks for the video!

Just be careful. The compressed air can blow the line off

Thanks for the great video. I'd like to know the size of id and od for the clear picture tubing you were using to blow the compressed air. Thanks again.

I dont have it on hand. Hardware store should have something. Thin wall no bigger than a 1/4" should work

Thanks for a great video. What would you use to lubricate the sunroof slides and channels?
@SAAutoRepair6 жыл бұрын
That's a good one for a debate. Just to reaffirm what I already believed, I just checked Dodge, Ford and Lexus, and couldn't find a mention of what lubricant they specify. My suggestion would be a water resistant, silicone based grease. Nothing too thick like a chassis grease or an anti-sieze compound that might have an abrasive in it. You can probably find it listed as power window track lube.

Great tip! You'll have to make another one on what to do if it's not the sunroof. That one looked pretty clear :)

How do i connect my hose back on? My car is leaking and its not clogged but i opened my head liner and the tip of the pipe is facing downwards where it comes out of and goes straight to my seats.. I believe they disconnected
@SAAutoRepair4 жыл бұрын
There should be a plastic or dubber hose laying in there unless someone removed it while doing work on it. It should run down towards the right kick panel or behind the glove box and through the firewall

what if the rear drain lines are clogged???
@carolkaplan8157 Жыл бұрын
how do you unclog the sunroof if the sunroof is stuck closed and won't open? Is there other access near the front wheel and/or the trunk? If so could you please do a video to show how to unclog it from there (and/or how to get the sunroof to open? can it be opened manually? why did the electric button stop working; did the water from the clogged drainage short it out??)
@SAAutoRepair Жыл бұрын
You'll need to get the sunroof working first. Clearing the drains from the underside won't fix the roof, even if you could easily get to them.

I am trying this with the Weedwhacker line now, but it’s still not draining. Does that mean I need to try compressed air?
@SAAutoRepair Жыл бұрын
Light compressed air. Try finding the exit side of the tube and push up from there with the line as well

On Infiniti G37 the hose connects to a plastic clip on the firewall. There’s a baffle on the clip that gets clogged and you have to get it out and clean it. Real pain in the you know what. Most people cut the baffle out.

If u hear sloshing when you push on breaks quick, and car lerches foward; its time to get it unclogged b4 it backs up into car. Mine has made a nice puddle on floor matts:(

I think it would leak into the car before you hear it sloshing. At least that's been my experience
