The people who don't watch the Bucks probably don't know this, but Bud was a terrible playoffs coach. AMAZING regular season coach, but TERRIBLE playoffs. They should've won at the very least 2 championships while he was there, but he was just so bad at making adjustments. He's one of those oldheads who won't change, they'll do it their way & their way only. One of his defensive strategies was, focus on the paint while giving up 3s, because 3s are less efficient. I mean it makes sense, but in this day & age, where teams mostly shoot 3s anyways, that's a lot of open 3s you're giving up. The Bucks were the worse 3pt defending team his first 4 years there, & he didn't attempt to fix it until his last year (but he went back to his old ways during the playoffs). This tactic hurt majorly come playoff time, you're giving teams like the Raptors, Heat, Celtics, open 3s, that's a good way for opposing teams to either gain a big lead or come back from a big lead. The Bucks should've won in 2019, but Bud got outcoached by Nurse. They won the first 2 games, then Nurse made adjustments, & Bud was never able to answer those adjustments. And then last year 2023 against the Heat, the last two games while the Heat got hot in the 4th quarter, I believe they came back from a double-digit lead in the 4th quarter during both of the last two games, Bud never called a timeout to stop their run! Had they not won the chip in 2021, he was already on the verge of getting fired that season too, that chip saved him a couple more years.

Vogel lost the locker room is the biggest way it makes sense. The other thing to remember is that Bud is from Arizona and has a passion for Sun's history. If they're the same coach, I'd rather have Bud who is one us (Arizonan) and Book/KD can make adjustments, but maybe Bud should hire a great tactician as an assistant coach.

He made zero in game adjustments, kept KD in the corner all year. Called for a timeout up 4 with 10 seconds left leading to OT.
