Normally I’d be okay with that as long as he balls out in the playoffs but… the Suns might not even make the playoffs especially if Jimmy half asses it during the regular season. The Suns would need Jimmy to play the majority of the remaining regular season games and to give 100% effort if they want a chance to even make the post season. I think the Suns would benefit more with Butler than with Beal just because Butler would be a better fit being that he’s a Foward and not a Guard.

As a Rockets fan I am loving this. If Butler (35) joins KD (36), both with one more year on their contracts, this means the Suns will extend both for 2 or 3 years and keep them together with Booker. The Suns will continue to have a weak bench and only become more expectable to injuries to the ageing KD and Butler over the next few years. I am happy to know that I have been right...that the Rockets did not do that trade with the Nets to get the Suns picks for a shot at KD or Booker. They have hung tight to their young core plus the Suns' picks as they should. Suns are and will be one injury away from a losing season as long as they have KD and you can add Butler to that list.

@@UnoActivist OKC has done good without Chet. The Rockets did good without Tari and now Jabari. Deep young teams fair better than teams with age and max contracts. Having 3 max contracts leaves little room for a deep bench...I have never liked that approach in the NBA. The Rockets could have gotten KD if they really wanted him with all the assets they have, but they are choosing the build from within long game and I am loving this owner and GM for doing it.

The Nets still were pulverizing the Bucks without him, then Giannis decided to injure Kyrie. They then went on to lose key parts of the coaching staff (Ime Udoka went to the Celtics and instantly got them to the finals and Mike D'Antoni retired). To me the only way this really makes sense with the Jimmy trade is if multiple involved parties in a 3 or 4 team trade wanted FRP, since we only had one to give, we couldn't satisfy everyone, by breaking it up into 3 lesser picks we can theoretically give 3 teams a pick, or one team 2 and another 1, something along those lines. That said, it could also mean they have trade interest for other trade targets like Nurk, who were demanding a first, but the return didn't' feel worth giving up their pick, so this was more about "making change" for their pick so they could give only partial of its value away and still retain the rest to use or facilitate another future trade. The most unlikely but most "awesome" scenario is one where they get butler with less then all 3 picks, and use the remaining to draft with or to move Nurk for an upgrade, but while I'd love for that to be the case, I just feel like Beal's contract is too undesirable for us to move it for 2 or less late FRPs. Love to be proven wrong though.

In the last 5 years, Jimmy took Miami to the Finals twice as the lone superstar, with one of those Finals runs starting off as an 8th-seeded team. Phoenix getting a chip this year is 95% unlikely, but siding Jimmy with other proven playoff performers like KD and Book will definitely be a problem for the West come the postseason. They can very well sneak into the WCF if other teams aren't careful.

At first when I heard they made a trade with Utah and gave them their 2031 pick I got all excited thinking it was for Kessler then quickly realized it was for other first round picks. James Jones does not like picking in the draft. He is not a fan of young players, which is why the only one-and-done player he ever drafted was Ayton, and i don't think he had much of a choice with that pick. He would rather trade picks for proven players than draft college kids. I think he will eventually trade Oso and Dunn, just like he did with Bridges, Cam, and Jalen Smith. He wants proven NBA players, not college kids. If we rebuild through the draft it won't be with James Jones.
