This sunscreen in winter (and indoors as well) debate is getting on my nerves because it's very confusing. Both my general physician and derm told me that given the UV index of litterally 0/1 here from November to March, there was no need to coat myself with it. Then I stumbled on Michelle/Labmuffinbeautyscience's video about wearing sunscreen indoors and based on the actual data she studied and the maths she did, she arrived at the same conclusion : depending on the actual UV index of your location, sunscreen shouldn't be applied (unless you work outside all day more like) to get some vitamine in your system when you go outside for a bit. So, I'm lost.

I have online classes so I spend my whole day at home. in Poland we barely have any sun, no snow in winter and UV rays lvl is at 0-1. I watched muffin and decided no sunscreen for me.... (I only put some special winter one when it's frozing and I'm going on a walk)

You actually don't use a thick layer of the cerave healing ointment. The tiniest dab actually gets the job done. I know about slugging from r/sca, but makeupforwoc popularized using cerave healing ointment and calls it the glazed donut gang... And she says not to use a thick layer. I actually find it more comfortable than using cetaphil cream but that's a personal preference. But as far as occlusive cream moisturizers, I'd assume the ceramides and cholesterol makes the cerave one a better option?

As someone with eczema during the winter I have a certain shower routine that is extremely quick! I’m out in 10 minutes unless I’m washing my hair! I don’t even bother with a body towel in the winter. I jump out and just immediately start applying my lotion. You find that your body is basically dry to damp once you’ve done your face skin care and maybe your arms.

I know it's probably not a common question but do you have any thoughts? Or even just a little bit about how products with collagen in them work?
@lilybarrow80863 жыл бұрын
Susan has said before that collagen is a brilliant hydrator but the molecule is too large to penetrate the skin for it to boost collagen. You'd have more luck to use a product that stimulates collagen growth than buying collagen itself.

My skin has been flipping out on me for the last couple months despite the fact that I a have a serious skin regimen that I never skip. I use great products with all good actives (azaleic acid, niacinamide, retinol, benzoyl peroxide, BHA, AHA, vitamin C, etc) and not all at the same time. I try to keep my routine as simple as possible, but I have these stubborn break outs on my cheekbones that get slightly better but then they flare up. I suspect fungal acne so I used nizoral and sulfur and it gets a little better but it never completely leaves. The worst is that I know my skincare routine works because the rest of my skin is amazing, just my cheekbones that are not healing up. I noticed that my flare up are stress related, I suffer from severe anxiety and when I’m going through something that will trigger my anxiety (finals and school), it gets worse. What should I do, has anyone ever heard of a similar situation?

It really depends on where you live. There are countries in the world where you definitely don’t need to use sunscreen during winter.
