I agree. I'm 70 & have seen countless shows over my years. I have never, ever, witnessed a performance like Nicole in Sunset. She's absolutely phenomenal. I was still in a daze half an hour after the show because of what I had just witnessed. Her acting in that last crazed scene - omg.

Saw this on 13 October and was blown away. Not gonna lie I was a bit sceptical as I had never seen a Jamie Lloyd production and always heard about the "minimal sets" etc. etc. But all my fears were laid to rest within the first 10 minutes. Such a privilege to see Nicole, and I completely bought into Jamie Lloyd's vision (the cameras? brilliant). My partner (who is not known to be emotional, and was definitely never a Pussycat Dolls fan) even got teary eyed at the end of "With One Look." See it if you can.

There are no clips of this show on KZbin. That scares me. Kinda reminds me of when Beanie was in Funny Girl and they removed all videos of her because of the audience dissatisfaction. I'll hold off on tickets until it's reviewed in NYC!! If comments are to be believed it should be good but since all seats should be good as long as you can see the screen I can wait to buy.

Despite what you think Nicole is slaying the role of Norma Desmond and her vocals and acting have been applauded by theatre critics and audience alike . So eat your heart out and sulk in your dislike for Nicole because you there is nothing you can do to stop her from receiving validation and awards .

Is this a joke? I’m so confused. This is the story of Norma Desmond, former silent actress in her 50’s. It is set on Hollywood in 1950. Thats the story. Theres no room for “interpretations”. Those sets and costumes are a “avant gard” excuse for a cheap staging. It does not make ANY sense.

I totally agree! Besides, her voice sounds too ‘young’ I guess? Like- not as deep and mature as most other Normas… it’s not precise enough, Norma’s whole character has a certain ‘profectiom’ needed. Her whole character has performing down to perfect, she’d been performing her entire life! The actress should mirror Norma in every way- especially in voice!!! There is no such thing as sunset blvd done minimalist! It just shouldn’t be done! The whole point of sunset? The GLAMOUR and the richness! Old Hollywood extra-ness!!! To do it minimally dishonors the integrity of the show’s message! (It’s like 1:00 AM- writing this half asleep. I know what I’m trying to say but words are not wording😅)

I love Nicole Scherzinger... but given the very age-sensitive nature of the character of Norma Desmond (a woman in her golden years trying to make a comeback in the title role of a character who is 16 years old), isn't Nicole Scherzinger still pretty young for this role? Maybe I'm alone in that thinking. If I am, I'll gladly step back.

I think she's in her 40s so about right. The character is meant to be 50, but for some reason in this version they change the line to "Nothing's wrong with being 40". I just ignored that - the story makes more sense if she's 50.
