I’m so glad you like it! Also, it’s good to hear you don’t like music in tutorials too. I try to balance it. I know some people like it, some don’t.

I'm trying to move to looser painting - as a relative newbie - and while my first try didn't come out as lovely as yours, your guidance helped place me in a wonderful relaxed zen zone. I wish you'd also shown how to complete the foreground!
@JBranchStudio7 жыл бұрын
+Lee Warren Looser is harder since you're editing out everything that doesn't matter. It takes a while to figure out exactly what does matter since it's not always what we think it is. I'm sorry about the foreground. I try to focus on one subject in KZbin videos. I'm really glad about the zen feeling. I always feel so joyful during and after painting. The fun of creation!

Hi Jennifer. I loved this video. Thank you. I know you use the soft Graham honey-based paints, which I do as well. I was intrigued to see you use your palate in this presentation. You are so carefree in plunging your big dirty mop into the paint wells. I find that if I use a dirty brush that it pollutes the paint wells, and because the Graham paints never dry, it is almost impossible to get rid of the foreign paints from the wells - the colours just merge. My response is to extract paint from the wells only with a clean brush. But that is such a restrictive and painful process compared to your carefree style. But I am wondering how you keep your paint wells "pure" (after you dunked your cobalt violet laden mop into your fresh well of Azzo yellow!), or whether you don't bother trying. On another point, I think the way you use your palate is really interesting and instructive. I really struggle with that. I would love to see the palate in more of your wonderful demonstrations. Regards, Hugh

Jennifer, I'll bet you write poetry too, don't you? Your paintings are marvelous but I also love listening to your descriptions: the atmosphere, the feeling, the joy, and excitement, it's all very poetic. Thank you: from another Painter/Poet

Please what brush are you using? I've not done watercoloring before but always wanted to. I'm an old dog (sixty-four) and need to learn a new trick to keep my mind active. Thought it time I learn watercolors, at least try...even though I can't really draw. Do you perchance have a video geared toward real newbies to the art?
@JBranchStudio7 жыл бұрын
+Cynthia Rosiek I used an Isabey mop, #6. My full supplies list is at: jenniferbranch.com/PaintingWatercolor/Art-Tutorials/Sunset-Clouds-Painting-Tutorial.html I have lots of beginner Watercolor info here: jenniferbranch.com/PaintingWatercolor/Beginning-Watercolor.html Also there are 2 basic how to draw lessons in lessons. The first will teach you all you need to make painting fun. If you have questions, please ask! That way I know what to do videos about. Happy painting!

taklon nylon brushes or MIMIK synthetic squirrel brushes are the BEST for WC- these brushes you use have no spring-back or response.I don't like them.Plus they kill animals for natural bristle brushes which I detest. USE synthetic taklon and save animals!
@JBranchStudio7 жыл бұрын
+Larry Wakeman I used Cheap Joes Golden Fleece taklon nylon brushes for years. I still recommend them for beginners wanting a huge brush - I loved #38! However, they are just not as good for my style of painting as natural hairs. I hate the killing animals for the hairs, but I do eat meat and wear leather shoes. Reputable companies do care more about the condition of the hairs and treatment of the animals. So cheap hairs are not a bargain. A good synthetic brush is usually better than a bad natural hair brush. A good natural hair brush, used for the intended purpose, is amazing to paint with. A squirrel brush should have no spring but hit and miss areas and do a wonderful texture. I haven't found a synthetic brush that comes close on that. They just can't do it. I'll love it when they can. A sable brush should have spring and a perfect snap to it point, as well as holding water in the correct amount. It should also hit and miss a bit, according to how you load the brush. A synthetic brush is very flat and smooth in texture in comparison and water retention is more variable. The difference between a nylon brush and a really good natural hair brush is honestly the difference between painting on cheap cardstock and artist watercolor paper. It's not that you can't do great work with both, but it will make it much harder to do. Your work will naturally have less texture and be more precise, so if you want the opposite, you're fighting your brush.
