Is that seat back adjustable to lean back more if desired? You have a new concept now...Balance and concentration on the possibilities of wet or sandy slippery surfaces. Very possible hazards. Be very very careful. I see you upgraded and got your house repainted. Nice

Yes, the seat back can be tilted much farther to the rear, for a much greater recline angle. Also, the seat itself can be adjusted fore and aft, which is how to adjust for leg to pedal distance (as opposed to changing boom length on a trike). Regarding the seat back angle, with the panniers and trunk attached, that is about as far back as I can go without the seat back struts interfering with the pannier attachment points. I could perhaps eek out another half inch or so, but the angle where it currently sits is very comfortable, which is different than my analysis on recumbent trikes, where I have always preferred more recline angle. So far during my life, I have not yet slipped on sandy or wet surfaces while riding bikes. Of course, there may someday be a first time, haha. steve

Kinda surprised you didn't get the upgrade AX model, aluminum frame and higher end componets? I use to own one, really enjoyed it. Stiil have fun with your new adventure machine!

I just looked on the Sun website at all their bikes and trikes, and the only model I can locate with an "AX" is a delta trike. No bike the company displays on their website has the "AX" designation that I can see. Regarding this bike, I don't mind the CroMo frame at all, still very light, can pick up the entire bike with one hand and move it around with no problem. The components on it seem like quality items from what I can tell. If Sun is offering another bike like this but with an aluminum frame, they are doing a great job of keeping it a secret, haha. @@outandaboutontherecumbents So far I like it, but LWB bikes do require a learning curve to ride compared to standard bicycles. It's almost like learning how to balance on a bike all over again (practice makes perfect) because the steering is what I would consider "floppy" compared to a normal bike. steve

Hi Gary, Yep, Schwalbe Marathon PLUS tires are absolutely unbeatable based on my experience on my trips ... never have had a single flat with one so far! To do a comparison of faired versus non-faired, I'd have to do a speed trial without the fairing, and then duplicate it with the fairing. For me, I don't have a desire to spend my time doing that, so I'll just be content with the thought that windscreens make a difference. How much really doesn't matter to me because I'm not one of those techno-junkies online who love to discuss this sort of thing, haha. The best advantage that I can see being useful to me is winter riding because the fairing will keep the cold frigid air off my hands and fingers ... a VERY worthwhile thing! steve
