Happy birthday to all of us October babies! Thanks for all the love, ladies, as always. 🥰 Yes, I'm stitching all in the Red Chords Collection together on one piece of fabric; I share a full photo on IG each time I release one. Stitching both versions of a Closely Kept side by side is such a good idea!! I might have to FFO a future release that way 🤔 Thanks for sharing Sylvia's story and bringing back memories of my teachers reading aloud to the class! So soothing and creates so much connection to the story and the class as a whole.

@SunshineStitchers3 ай бұрын
I use a daily rotation, a different project every day. Sometimes, 2 projects in a day. I am a planner and creating a monthly plan helps me to meet clear objectives (WIPGO). I simply pull project bags out from the cubbies. When I am doing a focus, like this month, it actually disrupts my order, but that is OK.

You guys made me look this up. According to the National Ocean Service ---> "In the North Atlantic, central North Pacific, and eastern North Pacific, the term hurricane is used. The same type of disturbance in the Northwest Pacific is called a typhoon. Meanwhile, in the South Pacific and Indian Ocean, the generic term tropical cyclone is used, regardless of the strength of the wind associated with the weather system." Thank you, Google. 😃

GOOD EARLY THANKSGIVING MORNING! The giggles before the crayon discussion is just precious. I’m putting off getting out of my warm bed to go do dishes and put the beef roast into the crockpot. Would rather stay with the two of you. My late Mother in law, was an English teacher in a small northern MN town. When a particularly rambunctious high school class would come in, they found her at her desk reading a pretty thick book….. English teacher reading a book. Ok. The late class bell rang and she didn’t move other than to turn a page. No words, just continued reading. For about five more minutes. The class was puzzled, and finally someone said, Mrs. - - - -, what are you reading? She started and looked up. Apologized and said that it was just such an interesting book she didn’t realize class had started. She put the book away and started the class. The next day the same thing happened. Kids get curious. Finally the class wanted her to read what she was reading out loud. (It was a popular teen book at the time.) She agreed to do that the next day, providing that the homework was all done and handed in, she would read first for a 15 minute period at the beginning of each class. The kids would be waiting for that class to start. She got those kids to love reading. She was a crafty, wily teacher. Thanks for the memory. She’s been gone for a good many years, and I had forgotten her glee in telling her story of a rambunctious, unruly class, turned into a scholarly reading class.

I have a ridiculous Twilight story😅. The first books in the series came out in my senior year of high school and I was just as ravenous for them as everyone else. So ravenous, that by the time I was a freshman in collage and on the last two books of the series, I would skip class to read them. I would walk to my algebra class, look at the classroom door and then look at the lobby chairs and think “Nope. I’d rather read.” Then I would literally sit outside of the class I should have been in so I could continue reading that damn series. I eventually dropped the class (don’t worry, I took it over the summer and I graduated with honors). I never told my mother about this! I’m now 35 and I don’t think I’m brave enough to tell her even now! The vampire thrall is real 😂

Hello Shelia and EJ There is always so much to comment on, however, I'm going to keep it to the upcoming SAL " Put A Bird On It" and time I actually have to stitch. I decided I would join. Before making the decision to join I had a panic attack when I thought about all the WIPs I have and projects in the que to start. You would think that as a retired person I would have all the time in the world to get things done. There are many people that ask me to do things on their behalf because people say well you don't have anything to do anyway. What!!??? Really?? I've actually had to tell one neighbor that when their parents go on vacation this year I would not be able to take their kids to school which included cooking them breakfast and entertaining them until it was time to go (they are good kids but 6 wks did me in), or dog sit when they go out of town. I finally learned that NO is a complete sentence.

Here's an unusual comment, but please bear with me. My friends insist that I am the only African American who stitches samplers, much less historical samplers. They say you guys are figments of my imagination. Anyway, they rag on me just for knowing what the Bayeux Tapestry is. I, indeed, know what it is and have studied it, though I would never want to stitch that thing. My question: Do you think many black stichers, such as yourselves, are familiar with it or have stitched it? I can't personally ask any other African Americans who stitch because I don't know any. I do watch a few black Flosstubers.
