Thank you so much for making these videos. I’m currently just sat down for my written exam for my masters and primary Montessori. Our teacher left halfway through our intensive training in the summer and my understanding of the language premium was very limited. Your videos really helped me better understand the language curriculum as a whole I plan to use your videos in the future to aid in my understanding

I'm glad the videos have been helpful for you during your Montessori training, especially with understanding the language curriculum. It's tough when a teacher has to leave mid-training, but I'm happy the videos could fill in some gaps for you. Language learning is crucial in Montessori, and getting a handle on it can really boost your teaching effectiveness. As you move forward in your studies, remember you have plenty of resources available. Whether it's revisiting these videos or exploring other materials, keep that learning momentum going. Good luck with your exam and your future teaching journey in Montessori! If you have any questions or need more help, feel free to reach out.

So useful! I'm developing bilingual literacy with my kids. I'm using the mother language as a scaffolding for the second one, but it's a bit complicated regarding diphthongs, digraphs, and other sounds in English. The training I took didn't go this far, so have someone to show me this to work with my older children is amazing! Thank you for this content.

Thank you for your positive feedback on our video about the language green series! It's wonderful to hear that you're finding it useful, especially in the challenging yet rewarding journey of developing bilingual literacy. Your approach of using the mother language as a foundation for learning a second language is a sound strategy. Indeed, navigating the complexities of diphthongs, digraphs, and unique sounds in English can be tricky. It's great to know that our content is providing the additional support and guidance you needed beyond your initial training. If you have specific questions or need further tips, especially for working with older children, please don't hesitate to reach out. We're here to support your efforts in creating a rich, bilingual learning environment for your kids. Stay connected for more insightful content, and thank you once again for your engagement! 😊

When do you introduce long vowel sounds?
@SunshineTeachersTraining Жыл бұрын
Introducing long vowel sounds in the Montessori language curriculum typically occurs after the child has become comfortable with the short vowel sounds and has a strong foundation in phonemic awareness. The exact timing can vary depending on the child's readiness and progress, but it often happens around the age of four to five years in a Montessori environment.

When does Montessori present long vowel sounds, especially with words ending in a silent "e"?
@SunshineTeachersTraining5 ай бұрын
In Montessori, long vowel sounds, especially those involving a silent "e," are typically introduced after the child has mastered the basic phonetic sounds and is comfortable with short vowel words. This usually occurs during the Green Series, which follows the Pink and Blue Series. The Green Series focuses on more complex phonetic patterns, including long vowels, vowel digraphs, and words with a silent "e." By this stage, children are ready to explore these more advanced phonetic concepts, which help them further develop their reading and spelling skills.

I am sorry, I have another question and I am hoping you might help me…. only one phonogram at the time, does that mean that i’m the word "tease", it is one syllable and therefore, could say that it has a_e or ea or s… am i threading to thin? should i only choose one phonogram, if so which one, or can this be presented three time separately… for example plate is quite straight forward, right? as it has only got a_e….
@jaisongonzalez77793 жыл бұрын
could you please share more info about the language courses…
@SunshineTeachersTraining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Jaison... we try to start by focussing on one phonogram at a time. As the child advances.... they would be able to tackle a word like tease independently.
@SunshineTeachersTraining3 жыл бұрын
We make start with ea and teach: meat, eat pleat etc then go on to a_c: fake, plate, mate, cake etc They would be able to decipher something like tease by themselves

I left a comment on the Pink series before my son started K. It's hard to teach in the beginning but he started reading books well. I have quick questions. I love the way Montessori teaches from Pink to Green series. It's so clear. However, kids may be confused to learn sights words while they learn words in Pink or Blue series. What do you think about it?
@SunshineTeachersTraining3 жыл бұрын
Hi Erika - we normally teach the children sight words using the Three Period Lesson - we have a great video on this. You can write down your chosen words and use this method to teach new words. You can watch it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iIaTi3iadqimqMk

What is elementary language?
@SunshineTeachersTraining3 күн бұрын
Great question, Sunita! In Montessori, Elementary Language refers to the rich and dynamic approach to language learning for children aged 6-12. It includes grammar, sentence analysis, word study, creative writing, literature, and research skills-presented through hands-on, story-based lessons that spark curiosity and deep understanding. If you're interested in learning more, we offer non-diploma courses on Montessori Elementary Language, along with certification programs tailored to different needs. Feel free to connect with Febri via WhatsApp at +62 857-1913-9827 for details. Happy learning!

Isn't "ck" a phonogram? So "chick" would have 2 phonograms?
@SunshineTeachersTraining5 ай бұрын
In the word "chick," the "ch" is a phonogram introduced in the Green Series, while "ck" is phonetic and covered in the Blue Series. So "chick" would involve two phonetic elements from different stages of the Montessori language progression. This helps children gradually build their understanding of how different sounds and phonograms work together as they advance in their reading and spelling skills.
