Sunterra in Katy, TX - Lagoon Life

So I just put down Earnest money for a new build here, and j wanted to give you guys an update in case you are getting questions. The lagoon will be done in 2025, and that’s when the $400/year lagoon fee will be added to HOA. Next year they will have completed the “serenity center” which will have an activity center, activity lawn, lazy river, pool, and gym. Also later this year/next year they will be building an elementary school in the neighborhood. There are 600 homes built now, but when it’s all said and done there will be 7,000. There are several places reserved for retail (HEB, gas stations, etc). There will also be luxury apartments. Hope this helps!

Thank you for talking about this community. The community sounds very interesting. One thing we came across when we checked out the area on the map was that this area was the Katy oil and gas field with multiple oil and gas wells.The Texas Railroad commission GIS viewer map shows that there are multiple uncapped gas wells spread throughout Sunterra, one right where the lagoon is supposed to be and others very close to the model homes. I do not know if the data on the railroad commission website has been recently updated, but uncapped/unplugged oil wells should be a major concern for anybody wanting to purhcase a home in this area.

The only issue with sunterra is it’s location. It’s very far from a highway and major commercial. However, this area is booming so this community will be an excellent investment for the near future

How’s the lagoon going now? I searched google found somewhere said it was expected to be finished by 2021, but seems like it’s not even started yet? ( looking to move to Katy sometime soon)

Developer lied about everything lagoon size has been reduced, many of the parks are being built very cheaply there’s a chron article about it buyers beware.
