Muchas gracias amigo! I'd be pretty confident that these are not interchangeable, but I have not tried to swap a Shimano freehub body on to a Suntour hub. Sorry I cannot provide more info at the moment, Cheers and thank you for watching!

I am very confident that these are not interchangeable, even the axle cones and seals would be different unfortunately. I wish had a solution for you. Suntour parts are a challenge to find from this era. Suntour stopped making decent components shortly after this I am pretty sure they were close to bankruptcy. After 1993 very few of their components appeared on manufacturers bikes. Soory I am unable to help more, take care my friend

What is the tool you are using to open the free hub body? The one that fits into the two notches. After a week of struggle I managed to get the cassette off, and are now trying to figure out how to get the hub open.

Cassette removal is a nightmare.. ended up giving up having destroyed 2 chainwhips. My xc pro rear hub looks like its consigned to the parts bin..

I have had this experience with similar cog retention systems. I recommend penetrating oil and time, the force required to separate a small cog that has been torqued from years of riding can make it difficult to keep the angle of your chain whip square and subsequently to break. Sorry the video could not help more.

@@nigel-Rollercam-channel I'll try some penetrating fluid, I don't have a replacement suntour cassette anyways, just have another suntour cassette on a xc comp hub which I would also have to remove to put on the xc pro hub.. might just have to stick with xc comp instead!

@@Daniel-bv2wc I have spent hours, days and weeks dealing with stuck fasteners in the 2 wheel and 4 wheel realm. I would avoid heat since there are to many rubber parts and other sensitive items on the hub and freehub. I am not sure what your work area set up is and how much you are willing to invest in chemicals that you may only use once I do have a couple of suggestions. Wurth and CRC Industries make a chemical that thermally shocks metal and helps loosen fasteners, this video sucks but gets the point across kzbin.info/www/bejne/i327kpuZrpV2hZI . Shimano, Campagnolo, Sram and every other manufacturer have moved away from the smallest cog being the lockring to retain the cogset and the Suntour components of this era are a throwback to when freewheels were common place. There are freewheel vices and all sorts of specialized tools that are no longer available or are hard to find that would help since the torque required can break a chainwhip as you have discovered. Ideally you have a vice and some softjaw rubber, plastic or aluminum jaws for your vice to help hold the wheel steady and help maintain orientation while you are trying to break this free. I do not know wether this will help but definitely take your time and be patient. Use anitseize or grease when when reassembling. Thats all I have for now sorry for the wall of text, Good luck!

@@nigel-Rollercam-channel thanks for the advice. I have it soaking in some anti seize fluid at the moment will try it in a day or so.. but might just give up.. I have my own bike workshop but pick up these old parts sometimes and try and get them running again. Should be concentrating on servicing customer bikes really 😉
