I certainly hope you have shifted from "spraying" to 'goating'. Buy em, graze em, sell em. There is a prime market for goat meat, and they give you fertilizer, and milk too, if you wanna go that way. Excellent info on the history of the stuff, thank you.

When goats eat kudzu their eating motion kills all the seeds so no more new plants. It will take using goats three or four years before the kudzu stops coming back. My neighbor has been using goats on his 90 acres and has seen a recession of kudzu on his property of 80 percent and plans on keeping goats as a means of keeping it well under control. Buy goats all you need is to provide water and an open sided shed plus food for the winter. Once the growing season stars the four legged all terrain eating machines will keep it down to manageable length with no chemicals required.

People can eat most of the Kudzu Plant and goats really love to eat it. Japanese prepare and eat this plant so bring in some Japanese to teach Americans how to process this plant for food and herbal medeicines

Great Information! Seems like a terrible prospect for homesteaders! Do you feel that the Ozone produced by kudzu has affected anyone's lungs while out in those fields? I was wondering how well kudzu can serve as food for humans. Perhaps the Kudzu has more potential as food during times of severe starvation than grass. There is information claiming that kudzu can serve as a healing herb even for liver trouble. My educated guess is to destroy kudzu by bull dozing. Glyphosate just pollutes everything and everyone. Otherwise keep all kudzu thoroughly harvested for fodder or put different types of goats or sheep on it. Conceivably it is probably necessary to bull doze a path around certain areas of land to install good barbwire fencing to keep the goats in. Thank you for sharing informative videos!

How is it controlled in the places it came from? I remember my high school biology teacher telling us about kudzu - fertilize it with crankcase oil and mulch it with cinder blocks, haha. He also told us not to sleep in it cuz it would suck all the oxygen out of the air and you would die. WTF! 55 yrs later, I just realized he was wrong? Backasswards! I remember driving thru Mississippi, all these fields covered with kudzu, and the vines covering trees...so many dinosaurs and giraffes and cow shapes, a Kudzu Zoo!
@Grace991813 жыл бұрын
Hi, I heard that a lot of people use Kudzu to make tea and vegetables as Kudzu has a lot of vitammins. Some farmers use it to feed livestock. With all the draughts in the United States it could still help provide food for the needy. We should send some to Africa. People are dying for lack of food.

The number one killer of kudzu is goats. Buy yourself a several goats and there favorite food is kudzu, the love to eat it and you will be amazed at how they eat it. Raise goats as goat meat seriously is the new oil. Seriously you will learn to love raising goats for two things, one they will over three to four years will eradicate the kudzu from your property. Think I'm kidding? Search on KZbin for goats that eat weeds, be prepared to be amazed.

Calling it a weed doesn't change the fact that it's an excellent nitrogen fixing forage crop. Despite the benefits to the ecosystem, here it requires humans to Shepard it.
