The trait was passed down for survival, unfortunately the downside was the disease which is the inheritance of the trait from both parents. Almost like you can't have too much of that power!

I really do like that none of the motivations of the supers in the beginning were to help people. Some wanted to use their powers for personal gain, some just wanted to lead normal lives, and one wanted to save someone. By the end they all have a common goal. And I like that it's only when they're confronted with something much bigger than themselves that they actually think about the significance of their existence, and of others.

I'm happy to see a predominantly dark skinned cast with 1 or 2 racially ambiguous actors, typically its the reverse. I noticed the sickle cell connections by episode 3 and I was like they have to tie this in somehow, no way its a coincidence. Also the way they go into deep sleeps after using their powers and it seems their abilities charge or flare up when they gather. So if the inheritance theory is true Char and Andre's son will probably activate by season 2 making things very interesting.

All the men were unambiguous, except for one mixed race guy, whilst all the younger women, except for Dionne were ambiguous, and she died, so that’s typical. They always use black women for older, mammy, overweight type figures.

Invisibility isn't a weak power, especially if we look at how things can grow, clearly he can make other inanimate things invisible like his clothes and knife, maybe he can grow to make humans and living things invisible, this is perfect stealth power, honestly unbeatable if he learns how to control it. Those gogles can be circumvented, it's probably heat signature, he can wear clothes suited to his power to remove heat or radiation. This is one of the most powerful powers loool.

Great breakdown. I agree with you on Michael traveling to alternate timelines vs there being only one, concrete & unchangeable future. In the first 'future,' we see with Michael, the tombstone for Dionne says "wife." In the present, they spoke about getting married, but obviously in that timeline, they hadn't gotten married yet. So I agree that we will see Dionne again when Michael figures out how to travel to alternate timelines and bring her back.

This was a great review. Spoiler alert!!! I am glad they dwelt on Syckle Cell without laboring the issue. Even race was touched on subtly through the biracial character’s experience. Regarding family connections, Andre’s son AJ may also have powers. He may be the foil contrasting with Krazy's character to highlight his attributes. This will cause a lot of conflict for Andre’s character. Thanks for sharing. I thoroughly enjoyed Season 1. Supacell lived up to my expectations

When I saw the trailer months ago, everyone in the comments was praising Rapman and saying that he represents South London well. Regarding the ending I don't think Dione is actually dead since Michael's future self said if he got them all together then he could save her. This was really good and good acting too, no dodgy patois from the Jamaican characters which is always a plus - big up Robbie Gee. I feel like this easily could’ve been 8 episodes, stretch out the story a bit, reason being, it started off with good pace but then by episode 3 it felt like they were rushing through the plot.. that’s not necessarily a bad thing, it just means i was left wanting more😂 Bring on season 2.

Just a slight correction, Michael in the finale didn't turn back time, he saw the future. He saw Krazy killing all of them similar to how he was the gang stabbing him in the first episode before it actually happened. But all in all, great review. One of the best series on Netflix right now. 👍

To see into the future, he was able to see into the future and find out that Dionne dies on July 9th and he did it again when he was doing his delivery run and got stabbed. And then he did it again in the finale. He saw all of their deaths before it happened.
