Hmm…… That kinda makes sense, considering the first Super Sentai robo is Battle Fever Robo, which has multiple weapons, but is not a combiner like the ones common for Super Sentai nowadays, and such design kinda resembles Japanese Spiderman’s robot. And another fun fact is: The way Spiderman’s car connects to Marveller, is actually similar to Daimos, one of the very classic fighting robots in Japanese anime.

Apparently, the Leopardon suit wasn't stolen. Rather, it was repurposed into Daidezin, the main robot from Denshi Sentai Denjiman. They reused stock footages because it was simply cheaper to do so

Just to add to the amusing idea of Spider Man using a giant robot, years after this show aired, Marvel would help create the Transformers franchise and even write the first Transformers comics. And Spider Man actually made an appearance in the G1 Marvel comics, which you won't find in reprints because the comic rights to Transformers are currently owned by IDW. Still, it's a fun coincidence. I have seen lots of people complain about terminology used. Yes this was not the first case of giant robot getting used in Japanese media, in fact the entire reason the show had this robot was because transforming robot toys were really popular in Japan at the time. Still calling it the "first Megazord" does kinda fit seeing as the success of this show is what led to Super Sentai using giant robots, along with helping save the franchise, which eventually gave us Power Rangers. Plus I have seen Super Sentai fans still refer to sixth member of a team as a "sixth ranger" even when the word "ranger" isn't the team's name, so let things be.

But the one I recall questioning the standardization to ranger was Akiba Blue from that unofficial series when she noticed even teams not using rangers in their name nor ones with awkward portmanteau usage like with hurricanger, etc.

For all of you who are unfamiliar with Japanese Super Sentai or Power Rangers in America. The Super Sentai was 5 Motorcycle Hero's with no Zords, but, the monsters of the week started to grow into giants, so, a Zord called Battle Fever J was the first Zord or Super Robot created. Toei Animations Super Robot shows, which, was also in production with Super Sentai and the toy company Bandai influenced this Power Rangers version of Spider-Man. There were no robot animals in Anime or Super Sentai, until, Daltanious came out in 1979, it had a mechanical lion's head on his chest, after which, Super Sentai and Yuusha Brave started to incorporate the design into their shows. The toy sales is what fuelled the ideals and the designers were always borrowing from Mecha Designers that they admired.

For what I've read this Spiderman foreshadowed the Super Sentai (and therefore, Power Rangers) series. Although there were similar "tokusatsu" shows way before it (like Ultraman), Spiderman was the first one where the hero had a combat mecha to fight monsters which could increase their size.

Sextus70 not really a foreshadow cause this Spiderman aired in 1979 or so.. some time before Battle Fever aired. This series indeed is the precursor to the combat mecha which Battle Fever would use and followed by the next Sentai onwards

Daitetsujin 17 was the first toku with mecha combats. However, Supaidaman was the 1st henshin hero with actual combat mecha. In fact, this series was quite succesful that made Toei resurrect the Sentai franchise after JAKQ's big failure, but adding the Super Robot vibes from this toku.

Correction - The Megazord is the Power Rangers' Leopardon. Supaidaman is the entire reason Super Sentai and the like HAVE giant mecha.
