Interesting review! I've been using an el-cheapo two-way pump to inflate my water bicycle floats to 7.5PSI. I've injured my back twice - on the up stroke - as it becomes extremely difficult to pump once one starts exceeding 5-6PSI. I'm now looking at a cordless pump.

Hi there, a female friend of mine is looking for a pump which is easy/light at the end (when trying to move from 10psi to 1 5psi) she is very light weight (under 90 pounds roughly 40kg) do you know guys what kind of pump have the smallest piston diameter (speed isn't important here)?
@SUPboardermag3 жыл бұрын
Hi There! I've passed this question onto the team and will respond as soon as we can with an answer. Thanks for your patience.
@SUPboardermag3 жыл бұрын
Your friend would likely benefit from a shorter pump in height to ensure she can get weight over the handles. Some of the bravo models we have reviewed do offer this. Correct pumping technique would be really important - for example, not fully extending the pump shaft, just using approx 50% of its range will make the pumping more possible. I hope that helps a little - thanks, Will

Take a look at the K-pump. Easiest to pack/carry and looks very good. Probably longer lasting than these. GRI couldn't get me wear parts for my older (5 years) pump of theirs. That's a fail. K-pump comes with spare parts, it seems.

The pressure scale markings of the Super seems odd to read. Where is 20 PSI, where is 18?

How is the Super compared to the Starboard V8? Is it taller, I find all of the pump are to short for me.
@SUPboardermag5 жыл бұрын
Hey Donna, The SUPer is only 1cm higher then the V8. The big difference for us is where the hose attaches and where the air intake is. I find the Starboard V8 does end up sucking in my clothes all the time! The SUPer is just a bit smoother to use overall. Thanks Reuben / SUPboarder

I find the handles of the Super are bad designed, the engravings cause micro injuries in my palms skin from the uneven pressure.
@SUPboardermag4 жыл бұрын
Hey Donna. I think we need to make you one of our pump testers 😉. Because this is something that we haven't noticed and the Super is still one of our go to pumps for most of the time. Is it a small niggle or will it be a big problem over time? Thanks for your feedback Reuben
@donnawetter15134 жыл бұрын
@@SUPboardermag Maybe I have sensitive hands. :D If I use it every day the skin doesn't have time to heal, its on the lower little-finger-side of my palms, where all those markings press in the skin, I even sanded down the "lock here" markings on the outer handle, but its not enough. I just ordered the smooth handle of the Starboard variant to replace it. :)

Im looking at getting an old scuba tank and making up adapters so I can fill the tank at home with my compressor to 100psi which is more than enough for even the biggest ISUP's. Simply take the tank in the boot of the car and when you reach your destination attach it to the board and turn the handle. 100 psi in a scuba tank is nothing as they normally work at 3500psi so for all the nanny's out there that say it will be dangerous, Relax.
@SUPboardermag3 жыл бұрын
He he, I was around a few guys years ago who did this. Yeah really dangerous , but... it could do a 300L board in a matter of seconds! ;-) Thanks Reuben

@@SUPboardermag I have an E size Mig Welder bottle under the house, with is a bit bigger than a scuba tank, and have already made up some fittings and filled it with the compressor multiple times. It works perfectly. Its good enough to fill an empty car tyre to 40psi, then half deflate and do again. I just need to get a tyre inflator with a low pressure gauge (for better accuracy) and make it fit the sup pump fitting and I recon Ill be onto a winner.
