Thank you for honoring George; he was one of the key visual parts of my childhood and teens. And rare in that no matter how many years passed between me "trying" comics again as an adult he was always there and just as wonderful as always. This comic was at the height of my comicbook ranking for years that I loved. This short span of years had soooo many series and issues that are some of the best ever made. I still remember seeing this on the shelf and getting it. And even though Omac and Kamandi had been out for years by then and I'd seen them (individual series, team-ups and back-up stories) this put OMAC on my radar and is still my favorite appearance of his. This time travel gimmick was actually amazing to me; Terminator was still (ironically) in the future. The closest I think i had at that time was the Super Friends episode where the villains went back in time to undo the heroes, which definitely didn't compare. Thanks for kicking off the Perez tributes with this one.

Between the original Omac series and this number of DCCP there was a backup series in the Warlord book (37-47) of Omac.

All respect to the man and myth George Perez. What a legend! I am so sad to hear of his passing. So thankful to his amazing artwork that he shared with all of us. One of the very best team artists of all time. One of my all time favorite artists. No words can capture how infuential this guy was on the fans and artform of comics in general.

Idk if it's true, but as a kid I worked at a comic shop in mid 80's and one of the older guys said he met George at a con and he told him he packs in all the detail because he felt guilty leaving empty space on the page. Seems like it would be something George would say. RIP 🙏🏼

OMAC was also brought into the last few issues of Kamandi (after Kirby’s return to Marvel). Gerry Conway (I think?) tied both of Kirby’s alternate futures together into one story (sort of).

I hope you guys put John Byrne's OMAC limited series under the microscope. As to Harlan Ellison suing the producers of Terminator for cribbing the "Soldier" episode of The Outer Limits: are you familiar with a Michael Rennie movie called "Cyborg 2087"? Rennie portrays a cyborg from a dystopian future who escapes to our present to avert the creation of a technology that will eventually subjugate humanity. He's pursued by 2 cyborgs from the future. "Cyborg 2087" is much more a template for Terminator.

Great video! Pablo Marcos, the co artist you mentioned, did some really cool work on Conan,The Zombie, and Iron Jaw from Atlas comics. I recommend looking up his original on Heritage Auctions for some HI-Res scans.

When I first saw the cover to TNTT #1 as a kid, I became enraptured. Seeing Perez's art on the cover of a DC comic made me think that DC was becoming more cool like Marvel. I didn't know who Perez was at the time, but I associated his work on FF and Avengers with Marvel. You're right that the artwork for DC up to that point was pretty static, but Perez brought his dynamic style over and it captivated me.

I remember reading a George Prez issue of the Fantastic Four and how the city's geography was consistent with the characters. If the Human Torch looked towards the east at the antagonist, the two pages Johnny Storm would enter the fight from the westward direction. I loved the detail and felt I was really getting my money's worth with George Prez's work.

DC comics presents was the Superman team up book and Brave and the bold was the Batman team up book. Both had some good stuff but DC comics presents had rotating artists while Jim Aparo drew a lot of brave and bold
