I'd protect her like a human child. I recall once some kids had caught one of the neighbours cats and was trying to force her into a small wooden crate and wrapping her in a fleece. They'd also tried and failed to remove a small chain from the sheltered car park. I don't know what exactly they wanted to do. In the least wrap a chain around her neck, swaddle her in a fleece and imprison her in a wooden crate. So I banged open my door and yelled in my most aggressive voice. "What are you doing to that cat?" While striding toward them. It had the desired effect. The girl dropped the cat and she ran away. The other girl claimed the cat was hers so I asked her what 'his' name is. (I knew it was a she.) So when the girl said his name was Oscar I told her she was lying and to stop trespassing on private land and from their uniforms I knew their school and year group. They fled. But if they hadn't let the cat go I'd have hit them if I had to.

Loving your work - my step-mother fell for an email "free £500 voucher" scam over here (that ended up sending her text messages at some ludicrous rate) in the UK. I warned her that, after she'd fallen for that, she would be on the 'easy target' database for life and never to trust anyone that calls to offer 'help'. She gets calls 2-3 times a month from these types pretending to be from either Microsoft or British Telecom but she very politely says that she doesn't appreciate them trying to scam her and hopes they reconsider what they're doing. Every moment you keep these low-lifes on the phone is a moment they're not taking advantage of the vulnerable. Nice one, mate.
