What fascinates me is you wood turners' ability to see the end product from the beginning. You start by cutting, shaping and gluing disconnected pieces of wood with the idea of what picture they will make after turning. To me, that's like determining the picture of a puzzle from all the unassembled pieces. I tip my hat to you and that mental foresight.

Have you ever worked with Pernambuco? I had a couple of snooker cues made for me in the UK and the hand-splicing woods were Ebony and Pernambuco. The wood is usually used for high-end pens or violin bows but what a beautiful grain. They say it is brutally hard though. Just curious if you have worked with it. Cheers. I sure enjoyed this video. It is 1:51 am but I wanted to watch all of the video to help your analytics. Thanks again for the video it was tremendous fun.

Why do you leave it square when you start turning it. Surely, it would be easier on the hands and wrists to mark the centres, then cut the corners off, giving a smoother initial ride.

It's similar to the shape of the Rising Sun Flag The flag, which was used by Japan during World War II, symbolizes Japanese militarism. Currently, it is used as a military flag for the Japanese Land Self-Defense Force and the Maritime Self-Defense Force, and has caused controversy as it is often used to cheer for international sports events.

You guys keep saying you are making a vase but a vase is supposed to hold things what you are making is an ornament. Bingo
@TWH00710 ай бұрын
Looks like a vase to me. After all it does have an opening in the top so it can hold "things". Flowers would work nicely in this vase. And flowers are a "thing". Right? Heck, you could put sticks in this beautiful vase and it would be pretty as well. There are many "things" that could go in this. You could put marbles in it through that opening that is there for some reason. How about coins? Even dirt could go in it. Really wouldn't want to do that........... it's way to pretty for that. Doggie treats would work too. Oh my goodness.......... the list goes on and on with things you could put in this vase. Oops, I mean ornament. lol I guess it's a matter of opinion as to what you want to call it. When I hear the word ornament, I always think of a Christmas tree with decorations on it, ornaments and balls. Even though this is absolutely gorgeous, it would look kinda funny hanging on a Christmas tree. lol Just having a little laugh here. 🎄🎄🎄🎄 🟣🔵🟡🟠🔴
