Super Best Friends Moments I Think About Often

Thank you to Matt, Patt, Woolie, Liam and people that support and inspire them. It was the hypest gameplay on youtube.
I hope this video is seen as positive.
I tried to shorten the clips but even this first video came out longer than I would have liked so there should be more coming but maybe not right away.
I would like to make a few of these and shorter ones in the future.

The first time I saw/heard the Best Friends was at a friends house and I hated them. It was just two nerds screeching at each other through low-quality mics. Years later I actually watched a couple videos on my own. It was just two nerds screeching at each other through slightly better mics. And also there was a cool black guy and a high-school kid who loved anime. I'm not sure which element of that changed my mind about all this mess, but I'm glad it did.

I stumbled across these guys when I found their machinama videos, can't remember which one was the first. Ever since the...sixth video I watched, I checked out their channel and watched many of the let's plays. They created many of the most saltest, hilarious, and hypest moments in gaming history. I'm going to truly miss these guys, getting together in pairs and all.

Matt's snipes at Pat were getting less light-hearted and more passive-aggressive over the past few years. Their contrasting personalities only solidified with age until the forces that bound them dissipated. That being said, I can't imagine how intense the fighting must've been to literally dump what could quite honestly be considered your dream job over petty politics. Most folks work shit jobs with people they hate but tolerate nonetheless. Hopefully they can maintain a strong following on their own because I'd hate to see them fade into the ether like so many other original lp-ers.

With most other jobs there's quite a few other people, and while being around people you don't like would be taxing, you most likely will only have to be around them for so long. With SBFP, though, not only did they have to constantly be around each other, their ability to be entertaining also depends on them being having good chemistry and enjoying each other's company. It just wouldn't work

I mean I think at a certain point, SBFP wasn't their dream job anymore. They were successful enough to do their own things, will Woolie and Matt each having their own channels they liked working on more, and Pat's streaming with Paige being just as successful too I think it was less that they hated each other so much they couldn't stand working together but more that they just realized they didn't NEED to work together anymore

Hard to believe it's already been over a year since they broke up. I've had the following thought multiple times throughout the year and . . . before i get into it I'm COMPLETELY AWARE of how silly and over the top it'll sound at first but I think after you see my reasoning you'll understand the analogy a little better. The Super Best Friends . . were the Beatles of Let's Plays. Think about it; a former group of 4 that was around for a shockingly short amount of time and broke up due to creative differences (as well as unspecified drama potentially) but within the time they were together they single handedly influenced the way we look at the genre they took part in. the best friends weren't the first to do let's plays; far from it. But before they came along, Let's Plays were made mainly as guides for how to get through the game quickly and effectively as well as broaden discussion on what the game does well. The best friends were the first of their kind; a Let's play group whose attraction and claim to fame was not necessarily whatever game they were playing . . .but were more so their endearing personalities and tendency to get into hilarious shit. Watching their Heavy Rain playthrough became about THEM, NOT Heavy Rain. And this rise to popularity further influenced what people expected from content similar to their own. How big would the let's play scene be if not for these guys proving that just goofing around while playing a stupid game could be entertaining? While that influence doesn't necessarily show in their subscriber count, they had a MUCH bigger impact than that would initially have you believe. Plenty of big names like Eyepatch Wolf, 2snacks, Maximillian Dood and Mother's Basement got their notoriety because the Best Friends shouted them out and gave them work. Many games like T.E.C 3001, Skullgirls, Shovel Knight and Divekick owe a large chunk of their success to the Best Friends. Not only were the Best Friends the first to do the genre in this way, but they were consistently the best IMO. They always injected their stuff with an endearing balance of ernestness, insight and flat out hilarity. But, much like how the tensions between John and Paul rose to a breaking point, so did they for Matt and Pat. So they came to an abrupt, heartbreaking end. but they DO all have amazing solo careers, much like the Beatles ended up having. BTW Woolie is George and Liam is Ringo in this analogy.
