Remember last years NFCCG? That's what it feels like, only with more at stake. The ending of this game was heartbreaking, but it would have felt even worse if the Seahawks hadn't won the previous Super Bowl. SCE2AUX2 if you're talking about Pete Carol's call at the end, I absolutely agree with you 100%. That was such a great call. Carol is a coach that likes to surprise the other team and that was just such a great call. The only reason people despise of it is because it didn't work. If that play did work, everyone would be saying it was a great call. So I agree with you completely
@sce2aux4647 жыл бұрын
The obvious call would have been Lynch up the middle. A pass would have worked to save time, and would have been a good idea if it had been a fade. The fact that Russell seemed to be taking his time may have tipped off the Pats to anticipate the pass.

What does that tell ya? And I still deem Manning as one of the top five Greatest QBs of all time. Maybe in the top three. Though Brady has won this race against Manning, that exciting and ferociously debated rivalry (leapfrogging Manning in much the same way that the United States leapfrogged the Soviet Union back in the late 60's during the height of the frenzied and storied Space Race, landing a man on the moon and emerging as the unequivocal victors against the Red Commies after years of trailing them). Brady is the best (better than Montana, even, as Montana always had more to work with, better receivers to throw to on this more consistent basis, and he never put up the fantastic numbers that Brady has!)!

@multiplemike9 жыл бұрын
If you really thought he "almost" took Brady's heart, you weren't really paying attention. He didn't come close and no one really has in Brady's career. Yes Brady has lost some Super Bowls (and yes he was a yard from losing this one), but his spirit has never left him. No one can take Brady's heart, not Sherman, not Eli, not Rodgers, and certainly not Peyton. Tommy Brady still has all the fight and the hunger from his youth, and that's helped him get back to this game and earn this moment.
@vividexstance9 жыл бұрын
multiplemike In the 2 superbowls the Patriots lost in, Brady got them the lead late in the game. It was the defense that lost the games on both occassions and nearly this superbowl as well.

vividexstance Not entirely accurate. In the 11' SB Pats scored on the first possession of the 2nd half to go up 17-9 and failed to score again the rest of the game. All about the welker drop in that game. Would have set the Pats up for at least a FG and possibly milk most of the clock to go up 5. Defense totally let them down in the last drive in 07'.....no doubt about it on that one.

I'm not an emotional guy by any means, some say I'm stiff, but the day Brady retires I already KNOW... I'll be crying my eyes out. That will be a Sad SAD day. Grew up with the guy on my tv for so many years. The passion he displays on the field and the way he seems like a regular guy off the field is more than endearing.

oopopp x With Belichek running things, I'm sure the Pat's will trade Brady at least three years before he retires, and you'll be singing the praises of Garoppolo (or whoever Bill turns into a star by then).

I have so much respect for Malcom Butler. First the amazing tip play effort on the kearse catch. (99% of the time that is a tipped ball incompletion). Then the presence of mind to push him out of bounds quickly when he realized it was a reception. Then instead of dwelling on it, he came right back and made the play of the game. Incredible discipline and perseverance.

+Adio Ash Yeah, Butler's tipping the pass that ended up with Kearse catching it was a complete fluke. Amazing catch, but that 9.9/10 would never happen like you said. But you got to give Browner a bit of props on the interception play. Browner jammed the outside receiver, so Butler could freely cover Lockette and made an excellent read and interception. Before Russell Wilson called hike, I was thinking, "Only way Pats win this game is if Wilfork plugs the hole and flattens Lynch." But then the play happened and the rest is history.

At 6:01, #25 of NE Patriots was benched for #21, Malcolm Butler. At 9:17, Kearse made an unbelievable catch that gave the Seahawks 1st and Goal (and a great chance to seal the game for them). Butler was covering the pass and was absolutely gutted and filthy with himself for not knocking the ball away from Kearse’s hands. You can see his utter disappointment at 10:11. At 11:06, Butler redeemed himself by making a game-winning interception. You can see how much that play meant to him at 12:27. The way Butler bounced back from his heartbroken state was incredible. At 13:56, Brady calls out Butler in front of his whole team to show how much they appreciate Butler’s work. Bottom line is: Butler deserves more credit. The Seahawks didn’t give away the win; Butler made a great play that gave the Patriots another SB ring. P.S. Best SB everrrrrrr.

+Phillip Tran Butler knocked the pass way, Duron Harmon should have gotten in there and knocked the football out of Kearse hands instead of jumping over him.

+Jose Mercedes Indeed. I never blamed Butler for that play, and Butler himself shouldn't put the blame on himself (which he did as you can see by his reaction after the play). Honestly, he couldn't have covered Kearse any better. Butler did what he have to do and that was to make it difficult for Kearse to catch the ball. His coverage was great, and you could see him leap into full stride in an attempt to knock the ball away at the very last moment. The real blame goes to the safety, as you've stated, as he could've easily knock the juggling ball out of Kearse's hands.

Exactly he did everything he could to cover that play and he got his revenge two plays later.
