You have to have the reaction time, and instincts to do so. If a stupid ass red-light runner, something you don't expect, comes outa nowhere, you won't have the time to react. Even if you could, your first reaction would have to be 'I should accelerate to get out of the way', which it might not be. With the R8, it happened in like half a second, nowhere NEAR enough time to react. And at that distance? Nope, there's no way the R8 could've dodged that unless he sped through at the start.
