If people really listen to the lyrics Cat is talking about a time when Jamaican 'bad men' used to terrorize the island. The names he mentions are some of the most ruthless killers Jamaica has ever seen. It's a good tune but the reality behind it is also very sad.
@Amidat4 жыл бұрын
yup... Cat himself was a real rude bwoy... but yeah he's calling out real infamous gun men - Massop/Copper/Cow/Bird/Sandokhan etc. definitely sad... Kingston streets soaked with blood

@@MarquesTheProducer It's become very dark with minor chords and oppressive vibes, at least from what we can hear from Jamaica Which countries still make uplifting dancehall? Sorry know little about the genre
@MarquesTheProducer Жыл бұрын
@@VictorNickel we have the same problem in the US with hip-hop. It’s not that we don’t have uplifting music - that’s just not being pushed to the forefront. With Jamaican culture, they’re starting to crack down on it but it’s to the point where the surroundings contribute to the lyrics. I know for a fact that artists like Chronixx (reggae) and Koffee (dancehall) aren’t locals, and their music is mostly positive. Dancehall has always been negative but it got out of hand. UK still makes positive dancehall (depending on who you listen to)
