Well done! Another great alternator to use with these old Fords is the 3G units common to the mid-1990s. I just got done bolting up a Taurus 3G 130 amp to my 1968 Ford FE powered dually, and like your one wire, it cleans up so much of the old harness and gives a LOT more useable juice. Great stuff, and thanks from an old Conyers guy.

You did it generator to alternator, now the tricky part sorting out the correct wiring, I’ve done it on a couple old GM’s from the forty’s. Made up new harnesses from scratch. Try to find a copy of wiring specs should be available from chilton or Hayes or even Ford. Solder gun, heat gun kit of schrink tubes, correct gage wire and large tabletop to tack harness to good luck

There are two spade terminals on the back of the alternator marked 1 and 2 on the case. There is a small yellow w/black strip wire that goes to the armature terminal on the voltage regulator that you want to connect to terminal 1 on your new alternator, that'll get your dash light working. I did the exact same thing on my '62, as my generator was putting out 18 volts.

Hey Rev. I wanted to mention something regarding any welding on your vehicles. At the facility where I retired from, I had surge protectors that had positive & negative clamps that clamped onto the battery terminals to protect the vehicle circuits from stray energy that would seek the point of least resistance - This was especially true with the new computerized vehicles and equipment that I routinely worked on. I used to fabricate and modify brackets much like you did in your video and I those slotted adjuster brackets can be opened up with a set of carbide burr-bits pretty quickly. But they sure do throw a lot of metal shards - So wear your safety glasses and gloves. During the livestream, I was removing the rear wheels from off of a 30 inch Snapper RER with the white handlebars while watching.

Fabrication in one way or the other is automotive work. I got to my 1964 Ford F250. Got me a new carburetor for the 292. Holley 2300 500 cfm. I got the ignition system all done last night. My goodness this old truck won't know what to do now. So many issues. Nuts not tightened, almost whole driver side spark plug wires came off little to no resistance,6 AC Delco and 2 Champion spark plugs. I have no idea how it was even running. But has all new 8 Autolite Platinum plugs,New Napa Spark Plug wires and nice and tight. Has a new powerful ignition coil and all connected. In about a week I hope I can get the carburetor on and get it running again. My fabrication was getting a vacuum line to carburetor and fabricate a new fuel line. Somehow these lines disappeared. But got it all ready to go.

Yes exactly right it is only a piece of cake if you have everything all fabricated and ready to go but of course every application is different. Just like the ignition went out on my "89 F150 I came up with a work around used a relay and a momentary contact switch to mimic the ignition and it is also an anti theft device now because even if you turned the ignition on with the key you can't find the hidden switch to start it. So sometimes we do things that do end up being upgrades. You did great as a fabricator Rev and thanks for sharing. Ugly as sin but Works as good as Jesus was a great line lol

I noticed the air conditioner bracket is still on do you plan on installing aftermarket Air Conditioning if not why don’t you remove the bracket to clean up the engine bay and have better access to the new alternator. Nice job on the alternator bracket.

Your ugly bracket looks great since it's hidden under the other one. Did you install a fusable link on the power wire from the alternator?
