We're really lucky we don't suffer with rust issues on 156s here in South Africa. I have two 156s and a Pal of mine has one too, undercarriages are prestine on all 3 cars
@Negativvv3 жыл бұрын
A £600 156 V6 is rare to non existent now. There's probably about 100 or so roadworthy ones left in the UK and maybe a few more random barn finds. There's been a few for sale recently that I'd describe as utter dogs on eBay for £1500+. Maybe 7 or so years ago when I got my 156 there were plenty of cheap V6 ones around but there simply aren't the same numbers around for sale now. I still have mine and if you want a rough idea of running costs/little mods etc then you're looking at £1k a year even if you do some of the work yourself. The oil filters in the Busso is in a frankly stupid place on a FWD car for instance but that's partly due to it being a RWD engine originally so even basic servicing can be a bit problematic for home mechanics. I love mine and may never give it up but I'm really not sure if I'd get one now and if I did I would pay top dollar plus take my time combing through that car's condition. A cheap "barn find" now will likely end up costing you as much as a decent car.

Just changed my recently purchased 156 TS cambelt it looked exactly like that. Previous owner of 10 years never had it done although the oil was changed every year and the garage he went to said the belt needed doing he never bothered! Great video

@Negativvv3 жыл бұрын
7 years ago yes as there were plenty around for about £1k and in fairly good condition, now in 2021 I'd say no as there are barely any left. This car would have been scrap back then but now it's possibly worth saving for someone with dedication. A Busso powered car is never that cheap to run either, if you gamble you'll probably set to lose.
@paulbrowne50493 жыл бұрын
@@Negativvv I wouldn't say that. I bought a rosso red Y plate Busso SW auto last year for a grand. New tyres all round. Cam belt done. Great fun and practical if thirsty as hell.
@Negativvv3 жыл бұрын
Good you've found something. A lot of things to go wrong on anything that age. Certainly helps if one can weld or fix most smaller things. I wouldn't ever attempt a timing belt at home however!

Got a Alfa GTV with electrical problem.. lights are sometimes slightly flashing (like there would be alternating current coming from alternator) and it gets hard to turn on if you have turned it on already in the last minute or so (turn on, turned off, turn on again after 30sec it gives it a hard time).. I am thinking alternator, because I have bought brand new battery and its still the same.. What do you think? I hope it is ok to ask you questions like this..

I own a CL9 Euro Accord Type-S and lots of electrical malfunction as well (handsfree bluetooth module causing battery drain, starter, AC compressor, AC control, consumes lots of OIL!!!!, suspension clunks, expensive Honda OEM parts). When I bought it I was under the impression this was going to be pretty much a 100% trouble free car. Old cars will be old cars, not cheap to own.
