I think you’ll struggle to melt silver in this furnace. Best bet is a gas burner, it worked fine when I made a ring - kzbin.info/www/bejne/naWsaJpoaM59p5o

Brilliant - thank you! I live off grid so can't use a hair dryer but I guess heating the outside wih a Mapp gas torch would be good enough? Also, are there any setbacks to using charcoal vs sand/plaster or perlite? I have an abundance of sand and pine but that's about it!

how about a handful of nails Sir, can it melt those? When I mean Nails I specifically mean specific nails like Flooring nails, Roofing Nail, Masonry Nail, Casing Nail, will the paint can furnace melt these kind of nails down?

No, the can would melt first. Try an arc furnace or thermite welding.
