What voltage is needed to trigger this circuit? 12 volts positive? Or something less or higher? I would like to see the circuit to run 4 cylinders with coil on plug or wasted spark coils. Great job with this one.

Which of your CDI’s would work best for a single cylinder predator/honda mini bike engine? I would like to make one that uses the flywheel magnet to trigger it. Thanks awesome content!

Thanks bro your welcome, For a simple system that only uses a magnetic flywheel, an analog (AC CDI) is more suitable. You can use any type of my CDIs except a DC CDI,♥️🙏

Greetings, CDI DC can be installed on all four-stroke engines, even AC stators.

Thanks ,If you mean the Ignition coil, (which is cylindrical in shape and its wire is connected to the distributor), then yes, it is possible to use a car coil as well.👍🙏

It's is great video and great information you have shared. But I have a question. If this thing continuously sparking. It is not good . Is there any timing or something that will work when connected to the bike.

Hi, The ignition continuity is triggered based on the engine RPM by the motorcycle's trigger. Normally, this is not the case, and I tested it by triggering it with another circuit.🙏

The microcontroller version includes a standard speed limiter, which I haven’t built yet. However, I will cover it in future projects

If you’re going the microcontroller route, let’s have the rev limiter and a switched lower rev limit for launch control ( could use a strain gauge or a micro switch with this lower limit for quick shifts). As always good work, keep it up.

Yes,The(DC CDI)can be installed on all carburetor motorcycles equipped with a Capacitor Discharge Ignition Systems.

Hi, nice work, congratulations, but if you want to connect the stator pickup to a scooter, does it always remain connected externally to the flywheel? On the stator plate? From the video I see that you connect the spark plug coil and the 12v electronic control unit to the battery but I don't see the stator pickup connected..

Hi, Yes, to operate the CDI, a pulse trigger is required through the pickup trigger wire. In motorcycles, this is done by the pickup as the flywheel rotates. However, I used a permanent trigger circuit for the stimulation, which I didn’t show in the video because it wasn’t related to our topic.

You can buy the ferrite core, but the transformer needs to be wound manually based on the formula for two reasons: 1. I haven’t measured its inductance, so I don’t know what it is. 2. The transformer is designed based on the circuit, and if the winding direction or the inductance value differs, the circuit won’t work, and there is a risk of damaging the circuit. If you need the inductance value, I will measure it later and let you know.

Lets say that ive a cranckshaft position sensor that feeds a microcontroller. Then the micro is connected to your circuit... would it work for an one cylinder motorcycle?

Yes, typically, precise programming needs to be done for the chosen microcontroller to determine the timing of the spark at the right moment. However, it is also possible to perform this task without a microcontroller. Your crankshaft position sensor can exactly perform the function of the pickup in a motorcycle, triggering the CDI to generate a spark on each revolution. But it requires precise installation and accurate timing adjustment, and you might encounter some challenges.

Hi ,my friend Primary winding (diameter 0.33 to 0.38 mm): 0.33 mm is approximately equivalent to AWG 28. 0.38 mm is approximately equivalent to AWG 27. 2. Secondary winding (diameter 0.20 to 0.25 mm): 0.20 mm is approximately equivalent to AWG 32. 0.25 mm is approximately equivalent to AWG 30.

Hi, This circuit can be used in multi-cylinder engines with slight modifications (I will demonstrate in a separate post). It is possible to use one CDI unit for every two cylinders. However, using it in cars requires careful consideration, as the revolution in car cylinders varies, and the ignition timing differs

Building a high-power ignition coil is possible, but it requires careful attention to many details, such as precise winding, high-quality insulation, selecting the right core, and more. Overall, it’s not a simple task and may not meet your expectations. It’s better to use a stronger, suitable coil as a replacement.But the transformer can be made larger, Larger transformer= bigger spark
