On asa 254 isnt the cap it is the mutation cap. U can get base + 254 mutations. For example 50+254. Dont sum up the points, put in base+mut format.

negative mutations are also important after you have 20+ muts on male because they count as 0/0. they are made by breeding dinos that have muts with their offspring and always replace dinos with new offspring this will make the mutationnumber increase a lot until it will get negative for some reason

Nice vid. On official i wouldn't recommend breeding perfect base pairs prior to mutations. Just get Melee and Health on a male, tame all low level females you find. Mutate Melee as quickly as possible, when the next stud is raising, only then do you mutate Health. Always make sure to prioritise your strongest stat. I'm not saying to not min max, but you can do it on the side. Ideally, you want 0/0 level 1's when nearing level cap. They're very cheap to clone. Also breed into some 1's the desired colour you want the polished Dino to be for the finished line

The main reason most SANE people go for breeding a perfect base pair is so babies are immediately recognizable as having a mutation at a glance. if your rexes' stats are identical they have the same level. so when you get a baby you know, based on it's level, if it has a mutation or not, in ASE it would also tell you if the baby inherited the mutated stat since a perfect pair of say level 222 base rexes could have a baby with the melee, then at say, the tenth generation babies, (9th gen stud) you're looking for babies that come out at level 242, babies in this generation that came out 222 had no mutation, 224/226 have a mutation but didn't inherit the mutated stat since there was no separate counter in ASE, 240 inherit the mutated stat but have no new mutations, 242-244 would mean the baby inherited the mutated stat from the father AND received a new mutation or two, then and only then do you need to bother checking if it got the correct mutation. NOW idk if the "old" mutation stats always pass down, I don't think they do, and I think it's the same odds if they don't. but at any rate if your unmutated breeding stock don't have identical stats, the number can get confusing and vary, so you'll have to check every single baby to see if that one desired stat is correct and mutated. that's a fucking pain. also in ASA mutations go up to 254 regardless of base stat, and you can work in a higher base stat at the end should you find one, meaning a perfectly bred 254 mutation melee rex with 30 base melee will always be weaker than one with 60 base, since the higher base can actually make the max stat higher now rather than just save you time mutating.

11:35 If your server’s mating cooldown is super short, listen to this tip! What you’d wanna do here is discard F5 and F3 and only use F9, this is because F9 has more stats that are perfect, so you’d be better off just repeatedly breeding that one instead as you’re more likely to upgrade. I know some servers have very high breeding stats, even if their other stats are pretty low, so felt like this tip would help

I've bred rexes with 20 mutations in hp and melee and see no need to integrate lower stats. At this point, you're cranking out massive rexes by the dozens and going over 450 is a non issue. Needs more detail on Gigantoraptor feathers.

That was a pretty elaborate pen wasn't it haha. If I were to make a pen guide I would want to make a better pen because this one was made up on the fly and had some flaws. We will see though

As you mentioned near the start of the video, 255 is a bad number to end a stat on. Would be best with 254, but since you started with odd, then 253 is the best option. Nice video though. Would definately recommend it for any new Ark breeders I come across.

Yeah, if you’re minmaxing it’s better off to start with level 2s, not 1s. With that level point being the stat you you’re going to put their exp levels in (level 2 health->level 450 with 254+72 health)

No, In single player you can go over 450 level cap. Although the 255 base cap is still there. Min-Maxing is not necessary, but it can give you insane stats. If you are just trying to make strong dinos to defeat bosses you should be fine without.

No, I should have made it more clear. When getting mutations, any male or female with a mutation that you don't care about should be removed from the process. At this part of the process you only need dinos with the mutation you are looking for. You keep females without mutations to speed up the process and keep males with the mutations you want. If a female has the mutation you want you have to breed it with a male without mutations to get a male with the mutation you want. Hope that helps!

Go to, "See Ancestors" tab on your Dino. If it has anything higher than 0/20 mutations on either Matrilinial or Patrilinial, you don't want them as breeding females.

Color mutations have separate mechanics. From what I know for every mutations a dino has, it rolls for a color mutation but has a chance to not have a color change.

not as bad, but just so time consuming, getting mutation stats to stack on the same stat (only damage for example), takes repetitive breeding from the best born son(+2) to breed the next best born son (+4) from breeding with unmutated females, takes just time, and a pair or tek binoculars xD
