Because we live far apart from each other so cannot always be together, the ladies of our family all light a candle at the same time ( 4pm) on Christmas eve, just to bring that energy of love. If there are different time zones, that is accounted for. Living in France, UK or Spain, we adjust 🕯️

When I was still living at home with my mom, we used to go to a Christmas Eve service at a Moravian church where they served a “Lovefeast” of coffee and a bun during the service. I loved that, but I especially loved singing Silent Night in the darkened sanctuary, lit only by the flames of candles held by each person there. So incredibly touching and beautiful.

Emma. Love all your blazing talent!! For the past few years I’ve watercolored scenes of Christmas for our cards. On the road to Bethlehem, the Angel appearing to the Shepherds, the birthday of Christ, the Wisemen, this year is the flight into Egypt. Remembering that Jesus and his family were refugees. He came so He could be our refuge. Wishing you and your family blessings.

Our family tradition is Christmas Eve, everyone opens their gift of new, washed pyjamas (adults, too!), then we all sit around and have a fondue/racklette! We started this with our girls when oldest was 10 weeks old. I had an emergency c section, and couldn’t really travel. So I surprised husband with a fondue for that Christmas Eve. (She is now 41!) And now we do it with grandkids every year and they love it! We haven’t missed a single year. It’s a nice thing to do together, lots of fun. And everyone enjoys helping prep all the dips, veggies, etc. Christmas morning is stocking time, opening gifts, followed by my husband’s famous breakfast. When that is cleaned up, I prep the turkey and get it in the oven. While that is cooking, everyone plays with their new toys, we usually have a couple of new boardgames, and since the day starts so early, there may be a new movie to watch to rest until turkey os ready. Then outside to play for a bit (weather dependent of course!), followed by hot chocolate, then a charcuterie board to snack on. Then bedtime, with everyone tired, happy and relaxed. I wish everyone a safe and wonderful Christmas, holiday season.

Those cards are beautiful! I love when traditions are passed down from generation to generation. We always and only ate Rice Crispies on Christmas morning. A Christmas I remember was the first Christmas my husband spent with our family. My brother-in-law, sitting across the table telling my husband, they only eat these on Christmas Day you know. My husband asking him, why? Some traditions don’t need explanation, they simply add to the occasion and make it special. 🎄

These are gorgeous! Thanks for another beautiful and helpful lesson. I love your channel because you are not only a talented painter, you are also such a great teacher. Creativity has always been part of our holiday traditions. We usually pick a creative activity for everyone to do. The goal is fun and bonding for everyone, no matter what age. We achieve that, along with a huge mess, usually. This year, I am going to suggest we create cards. You've inspired me with your lesson today. I anticipate with our wide range of abilities and ages that we will have to expand the medium beyond paints, which should guarantee lots of messy fun for all. When I get a quiet moment this week, though, I look forward to trying out the ideas you have shown here in watercolor for myself. My results won't come close to yours, but you've shown me what to practice and do to improve. Thank you!

Holiday tradition: we always have a kind of scavenger hunt for our 10 year old granddaughter. We hide her presents all around the house, then take photos of the places we hid them without showing the actual gift. So it’s a fun challenge for her to figure out where to look, depending on the surroundings in the pictures, like carpet, furniture, her Barbie house, etc. she absolutely loves doing it and is so good at it now, she astounds us every year. We have also done the same thing with notes/clues sending her all over the house, upstairs, downstairs to find the gifts. We also do it in May when it’s her birthday. She really gets excited and challenged. ❤

Every Christmas morning we eat home made sausage rolls (pigs in a blanket)for breakfast. I mix the skinless. the sausage filling myself and precook so the fat drains and doesn't make the pastry soggy. Then I wrap them in a homemade shortcrust pastry and bake. when our kids were little we always went to Big Lots (a discount store) on Christmas Eve morning and got crayons, coloring books and a story to read. now that my husband and I are on our own we still go out on Christmas Eve to a store to get crayons and coloring books and a book to read. We take them by a local hospital and drop them off at the children's ward. Instead of three sets (the number of kids we had) we get 11 sets...one for each of our children and grandchildren.

Congrats! You’re the winner of one of the cards! Unfortunately, there has been a bit of a set back. Our Canadian postal service is currently on strike. I did not know this would happen before I filmed. Please send your mailing address to emma_jane232@hotmail.com and I will get your card mailed as soon as the strike is over! So sorry about that! Hope it can be resolved before Christmas! Congrats again! ❤ Emma

Omg love it! Must be thinking the same thing because I’m prepping to teach a watercolor cards workshop and include the taping method for trees, but instead we’re painting in lines 🤩.

These are lovely cards that I hope to recreate myself. Thanks for this great tutorial and teaching skills! My latest Christmas tradition is driving through our neighborhood to see the different painted signs showing our neighborhood mascot, the ostrich, reflecting the homeowner’s hobby or original hometown, all in a fun cartoon-fashion. A local artist does them but I did a take on my roommate’s SCUBA passion that came out okay. 😅

I just discovered your channel. This is the third video I have watched. You explain so well. I am inspired to try my own cards. My daughter and I like making Christmas ornaments and other crafted gifts to give at Christmas. My mother did this with me and I am so pleased to have passed it along to her.
