@TheGreenerLawn Жыл бұрын
To deal with fungus effectively, putting stronger grass cultivars helps the most. Then minimizing disease pressures we can control, watering, fertilizer, mowing ect. So crazy enough, if it’s over weathering or too much water, baby shampoo can help flush the soil quicker slowing water to drain and no pool, helping to defeat fungus pressure. But the other things above are the true fix. How often do you water? How long do you water? How much rain do you get? How old is your grass seed?

So i have a 4 gallon battery back pack sprayer. So how baby shampoo do you want me to pour into my 4 gallon backpack sprayer?? Then the rest is water correct. I have about 10 k of lawn. Thanks
@TheGreenerLawn2 ай бұрын
@@brodygoalie it’s not as effective as a hosing sprayer, because it’s the water that’s behind the baby shampoo that drives the baby shampoo into the soil. But you can water it after you apply to do the same thing, so don’t stress it just make sure you water deeply behind it. So for 10,000 ft.² in a 4 gallon sprayer if that goes evenly over your lawn, go ahead and apply 20 ounces of baby shampoo, as it goes a really long way. If you use a hose head sprayer it’s half an ounce instead of 2 ounces per thousand.

@@brodygoalie thatch will soak up water, to mitigate that (if it’s above 1/2”) you will need to remove it. Baby shampoo will help it get past it, as it breaks it surface tension, and so it just doesn’t get stuck on the grass. It can actually just slide past. But if your patch is too thick, it’ll soak up a lot of moisture before moisture can actually get down to your soil, so you would have to remove it or use something that will digest it like nature

@@TheGreenerLawnso that product from yard mastery called Air 8 does the same thing? Please advise. Thanks
@TheGreenerLawn2 ай бұрын
@@brodygoalie no, two different modes of action here. This is the exact same thing as simple lawn solutions (they use a laurel sulphate (soap)backer just like this) or other liquid areation products. Air8 is actually a certain type of potsssium product that causes micro fissures into the soil, allowing air, water and mainly roots (when paired with rgs kzbin.info/www/bejne/bJWVeIlphrGdl5osi=G2Ysdb1YeTcT3-RQ ) in to the soil. Huge difference, baby shampoo will open the soil immediately allowing water to penetrate deeply (not air or roots), helping with hydrophobic (water repelling) soils. This actually can push water feet into the soil depending on how you apply it and frequency. Air8 takes a few days to a week to open the soil up and allows air to, water and roots into the soil a couple inches. Nope, air8 is its own beast vs baby shampoo… all other aeration products are baby shampoo in essence, do not waste your money and just buy dollar store baby shampoo if you look at those. Like I said air8 is a different beast all together:

No hydrate actually retains the moisture down in the soil, by creating a moisture barrier as the water goes to evaporate it stops it at that later this baby shampoo just opens up the swale to allow it to drain and get moisture down deeper into the soil.

Yes quite a day but that's the process I use to hopefully get satisfactory results. Quick question after all this… using the Dawn dish soap I applied it just before this entire project, would it be any good to apply the Dawn dish soap on all the Peet moss with seeds right now? Does it have to be baby shampoo or any shampoo?
@TheGreenerLawn8 ай бұрын
So what we don’t want is anything that kills microbes / bacterial. Those will hurt the soil. Baby shampoo is super gentle as it’s for babies heads. You can use dish soap, but make sure it’s NOT antimicrobial or antibacterial

@@TheGreenerLawn My neighbor from across the street has windows that face east and in the mornings until 11am or so (Greenville SC) there are 'reflections' of light that shine on a 8ft x 12x spot in my lawn. (Actually if you stand in that light, it's pretty warm!! You can feel the HEAT) So. then in the afternoons it gets more sunlight, but this area is the only problem) Heat spots or Hot spots I have heard them called? The Zoysia is turning a slight grayish color in the grass. (I have been hose watering that area in the early morning 6am and running the water system every other day)

Any benefit of doing this this late in the summer season? Should I wait for early fall?
@TheGreenerLawn2 жыл бұрын
Any time the soil is hard, not letting drainage happen, or hydrophobic. So any time is good. I just made this video in spring… that’s the winter reference.

And this does what to the lawn exactly?
@TheGreenerLawn4 ай бұрын
@@dannysandoval8296 depends on use: - loosens soil for compaction - allows drainage - allows for easier soil moisture deeper into the profile of soil. - flush’s salts / nitrogen/ accumulations through the profile - fixes hydrophobic soils - works on herbicides labeled for use with surfactants to allow for them to penetrate weeds easier for better results It has a few benefits for cheap.

Just came back from the stores. Actually checked 3 stores. Didn't see any that stated anything about being anti microbial or anti bacterial. Seems all the Johnson and Johnson baby shampoo and wash & shampoo I found say No paragons, phthalates, sulfates of dyes. Is this what you use? Can you share what the actual label says on the one you use.. Appreciate it! Thanks.

The antimicrobial and antibacterial is for Dish soap, they will not put those in baby shampoo. So any baby soooo any baby shampoo is safe for for your lawn. Sorry for confusion!

@scottmonfort Жыл бұрын
Did I miss it? Was there an explanation of how this works technically?
@TheGreenerLawn Жыл бұрын
Technically no, I just present things that work. But for you, it’s a surfactant that breaks the bond in the soil. Similar to how baby shampoo releases dirt from our skin, it allows the water to penetrate areas that have gone hydrophobic (Hydrophobic means lacking an affinity for water; insoluble in water; repelling water). If you want a scientific explanation look up penetrants / wetting agents. Then research laurel sulphate and how it works. 🫡 hope this helps?

Great video, if you could just do something about that music.
@TheGreenerLawn5 ай бұрын
@@lonecody yea, I added it 👌🏻 lol. It’s a filler and it actually helps the flow of a video, if done correctly it helps engagement, but for a certain few like your self, it can be distracting and I get it. I EDIT this for the majority, and unfortunately for select individuals it’s not going to be their thing. It’s like a movie, there is music in them, and you prob don’t realize it half the time but it connects scenes and gives a filler for our minds to gravitate to. This is the same as going to a mall where they have background music playing or a restaurant. Not intended for you to “listen to”, but a filler for our brains and it keeps us focused better in all reality, IF they don’t have it blasting. Way more than you signed up for on this, but there is no way people will “do something with the music”, it’s a proven fact that it helps majority of people. I personally am sorry it distracted you tho.

@@Photostudioww no grub control. Your better off using a solid preventative this early in the season. This was also shot in April of last year, 0 grub species (beetles in my area) are active in April, they lay their beetle eggs early may - middle of may to emerge in early June-July. Anyways, awesome to see you think outside the box, but it will not do anything to a grub. It’s a penetrant, for a hydrophobic soil. I took this form golf courses using pro surfactants, and grabbed the root laurel sulphate, to apply to soils so they open up , and flush.
