Well, I love those and thought I'd try. I got these tools for Christmas and needed to try. So, I got the hat done and cut my palm. Thank God I had the glove on. What a mess lol. I'm ok but will try again tomorrow. Thanks for your instruction. Blessings

I really like this little guy and I have a stripped poplar piece that this would be perfect to try on! I’m still working on fine tuning details and this looks like a good one to try. Thank you! Some of the face carving was off camera, but it doesn’t look to difficult to figure out the cuts.

As a beginner I love this instruction. Also love to see you use Wood we Can find in our garden / Woods. I’m from Denmark.. we do not find basswood around, so I thank you. Best regards Esben Back, Denmark.

To sand in awkward places I use lollipop sticks with sandpaper wrapped around I often whittle the stick to shape depending on how awkward place is cocktail sticks are great too I carved them made daisies painted up look fantastic. Definitely a bird puller too lol bonus 👍🇮🇹🐾🦊😏

Very nice! I love the wood spirit and mushroom combination. What do you use for the antiquing wash? And can you put a lacquer over the antiquing wash? Great job with the tutorial!
@SpoonsandSpirits2 жыл бұрын
On one I used Folk Art Antiquing Medium and another was a washed down dark brown acrylic both work fine to bring out the carving but obviously the antiquitg medium gives it a bit more effect . And yes a lacquer and most other finishing mediums would work fine, just avoid anything water based as that would dilute the paint. Thanks for watching 😊

I love these little mushrooms. What sort of wood are you using there. Could you recommend a type of wood for beginners who want to tey this. Cheers mate 👍

I thank you for posting this craft, but I was frustrated by the camera position as every time you would go in for a cut you would naturally pull the work in closer to yourself and right out of the bottom of the camera shot. Something to think about for the next one.

I love your videos but this one you were out of frame during your final detailing. Great work.
@SpoonsandSpirits Жыл бұрын
Thanks you very much, I will do a follow up at some point when I figure out how to get better focus on the detailing without wandering off 👍

could you back camera out next time so we can see what your doing.

Do you need to be concerned with the core of the tree your carving on when it dries? I have found that leaving the core often but not always results in the item splitting down the road. Your thoughts on this?

Nice but you need better camera skills. Keep your carving in frame please.

What gloves do you use? Where do you buy them?
@SpoonsandSpirits2 жыл бұрын
They're made by Blackrock and I get them from my local tool shop, they're pretty cheap, just as a warning though they've lately been stocking some which have a black grip instead of grey and they aren't as good, try them in store for fit and size and make sure they are a high cut level.
@johnoneill8842 Жыл бұрын
Search chef gloves or cooking gloves. I found some real nice slice proof gloves with grips on them, they're advertised for kitchen work. I'll tell ya, they work amazing. Otherwise I'd be missing a digit or 2. Lol.

Axminster tools, its a UK based online and physical shop that sells a huge array of gear at good prices, well worth a look!

A lot of your face cuts were cut off by the bottom of the screen. Need a better camera angle.
