I think I would've opened up the front fence at each t-track to make inserting the clamps a bit easier. As it is now you would have to disassemble the clamp, slide the nut under the board, then re-assemble the clamp. I like keep my clamps assembled and just slide them in wherever I need them.
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
As time has gone on and I've used the fence setup more, I agree with your comment. In truth, I only find myself using the left rail and the front generally gets in the way. :) I have recently removed the front rail and don't miss it that much. I am getting due for a new wasteboard and will rebuild the fence at that time.

Doesn't the front fence mean that T-slot attachments have to be slung in from the rear of the spoilboard? That seems a bit less convenient. Have you thought about how you might have a removable front fence that's accurately positionable?
@cliffart7398 Жыл бұрын
problem with the front fence is it takes away your entry point for your t-tracks. you'll have to load your clamps in from the rear.

is it possible to use a longer piece of wood than the bed ... for example 6 feet x 2 feet .... mill first half and then move the piece to mill the second half ?

Why would you need to surfaces the spoiler board, Great videos too. Really debating on getting a CNC
@unclebob87463 жыл бұрын
Sometimes you need to cut through (just a couple thousands) the material into the spoil board to cut out a project. When the spoil board gets a little worse for the wear, you can go back and re-surface, removing just 0.015 or so and have a new flat work surface.

I have heard of software glitches from people such as 731 woodworks. The solution was to turn off everything to reset it and restart.
@eyecandy-gaming3 жыл бұрын
Why didn't you just leave some space between the two fence pieces. If you didn't butt them up to each other the corner of whatever material you are using would have room to sit flush and you wouldn't have to cut into the guides? I'm asking because I am looking into buying a stepcraft q404 and I'm trying to learn all I can. Thanks
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
It was my first fence and I filmed as I made it. No pre-planning. After using it for a few weeks, I've found that I don't really use the left fence and just use the front on for referencing since it's set with the machine.

Aren’t you going to tell us what you were making? I’m guessing hold down clamps. Did you use any inserts into your spoil board or what type of screws did you use? MDF isn’t known for its ability to hold screws. Great video Sam!
@Samcraftcom3 жыл бұрын
The pieces cut are components for shelf bracket kits. No inserts, and the screws are normal wood screws about 3/4" long. I'm not worried about the screws not holding, the forces exerted during cutting should never be so great that they dislodge the screws. If a 0.1" tab can hold a piece while being cut the army of screws will hold it too. :)
