In this video we build a tiny .5-liter micro scape for some ramshorn snails. This is one of the smallest tanks in the studio and one of my favorites. I hope you enjoy

Me when I saw the shrimp: “so you lied to us 🧍🏻♀️”

I lied to myself 🤣 he had to have snuck in on the frogbit. I keep a bunch in my shrimp breeding tank

@@nvmbii He was trying to get out on his own 🤣 I ended up moving him back into the breeder tho. The water conditions in these small scapes really isn't set up for shrimp, TDS is too low and nitrate are too high. So he's back with momma

@@HerbScapes I have two shrimp in a 2 qt fish bowl along with frog bit, Xmas moss, Hornwort and a small Anubias. No heater, no filter , never used fertilizer and never cycled it. Change 1/4 water every two weeks. The little guys have been in there over six months and doing great. Nitrates are fine. I test the water every two weeks. The bio load from two shrimp is not all that much.

Those are gonna outlive you with that substrate to plant ratio 😂👍🏻

It also functions as a way to filter the water. The basalt soil create a ton of surface areas for the bio filter to live. But yeah you could probably use a little less 😂 😂

I like your build. You can toss in a few cherry shrimp. They'll be fine. Been building these things for friends and family for several years.

This was such a great video! Me and my kiddo love watching videos like these and making small aquaecapes to keep around the house and also give as gifts. Just subscribed and looking forward to seeing more!

nice to get recommended another ultra cheap DIYer. love people like serpa, but had to unsub from green aqua when the main guy went on a rant about how much he hates viewers asking about price when he spent almost 800 USD on a "beginner friendly" nano tank. would this technically count as a walsted tank? whats the actual swimspace volume on a tank that small with a dirted substrate layer? looks like the substrate and hardscape take up over half of it
@HerbScapes24 күн бұрын
I thinks it's kind of my take on a walsted tank, I'm not an expert by any means on walsted tanks. I'm not sure the swim volume but I would only really recommend shrimp and snails for something this small. I wanted to do a build that anyone could do, the biggest thing I hear people say is that they don't have room for an aquarium so I wanted to show how small you could take it. I really appreciate you taking the time to give it a watch 🙏

What about the mosquitos, what do you do?

At a store called Daiso it's like Japanese dollars tree. We have one here in Sacramento. I paid like 2 dollars for each one . But you can find similar ones in a lot of different places and online

I believe that the ADA DOOA glass pot MARU 95 is really similar. Only it's 40ish dollars. Not unless they are crazy snails. 🤣😂 As long as they have a food supply they have no reason to leave.
