Fast estate cars have always been cool. But how often does one come along that can be classed as a "Super Estate"? SB are thrilled to offer exactly this. Not for the faint-hearted, this low mileage 2008 BMW E61 M5 Touring with its potent 5.0 litre V10 is rare, and presents itself in generally excellent condition overall. With 500bhp mated to a seven-speed SMG automated manual transmission with paddle shifters, this re-defines our preconceived ideas of what an estate is used for.
Absolutely, it can be used as a load lugger for mundane trips to the dump - see Alex Goy's latest video as he does just this - but this breed of M5 Touring is also capable of giving thrills that are normally reserved for low-slung, full-bore, performance vehicles. A Super Estate it is, and the next owner will be treated to smiles galore while they accelerate out of a bend at speed. This particular M5 Touring is being offered after short-term ownership from a collector that has deemed it surplus to their requirements. Re gearbox, too many people are too conditioned that 3 pedals and a shifter are always better. The problem is, not all true manuals are good. Ratios play a huge role too, you need 7 or 8 in a car like that, so a an agricultural 6 speed manual is probably as much of a pain in the arse as the SMG. Surely all these years later the kinks can be worked out anyway, like the E46s
