One thing I noticed is that we need to start planting with our toe first then the heel of our front foot, then rotate on the heel, this is known as the “brace”. When you brace correctly, you allow your arm to move faster witch == more distance. The second thing is the “reach back.” Do not force the disc back you need to sort of move around the disc or leave the disc behind. The only motion your throwing arm should do is the pull, that’s it. If you watch the top pros you’ll see the the disc barely moves before they pull it. You also want the disc to be directly behind your front plant foot. A great KZbin channel that covers this with a GREAT amount of detail is overthrow disc golf, go check them out.

And what sad is, me muscling a throw still wasn't going very far. You have never been so relatable

Thanks for the support! You’ll get there man. But most of all, make sure you enjoy playing dg. I’ve been struggling with that the most this year as I’ve been working so hard to improve. Don’t forget to enjoy it!

@@GladiatorDiscGolf Everytime I think I have a breakthrough it never pans out. No matter what I do, how is been explained to me in person or through videos, I just can't get the nose down. I've tried Ezra's method. Reaching low, coming up to flat and then forward, but I'm doing it wrong. So hard to get it to go from low to flat to forward properly. When I'm doing practice throws everything seems smooth and fast, put a disc in my hand and it becomes stiff and clunky. I kept wondering why my release angles were all over the place. In practice throws, which to me means swinging with no disc, they look great. In slow mo footage of throws, my elbow drops and my forearm opens at a weird angle where I'm basically releasing this janky anhyzer. Cent figure out how to fix that. And then as I've felt like my form was getting a bit better, I started focusing on my grip, which I really hadn't paid that much attention to. I realized my middle, ring, and pinky finger are supporting the majority of the weight of the disc. My thumb and first finger are gripping the disc, but not with much pressure. When I throw the first finger and thumb come off instantly and I'm basically just using the remaining fingers. I've switched to a 2 finger grip to try to accentuate it and replace the muscle memory. I'm having a hell of a time figuring out what to do with the disc once it gets pulled into my center. Everything I try results in a rough pivot and it isn't smooth. If you would care to address any of these issues, especially the grip one, I'd appreciate it.

Put a high pass filter on these vids to knock that wind out of the recording . It’s literally blowing out my car speakers .

Congrats on reaching new milestones for your channel! I love the intro and transitions, and things are looking better. Regarding throwing, I've had that issue myself where I'm throwing with all arm, and while I've been able to get upwards of 300 feet with it, it just kills my shoulder and it takes a few days to recover. I'll definitely look into using my back more, because my style is built on the bad habits of reaching around my body too much, and rounding, so I end up catapulting the disc more than pulling it through.

Awesome vid!! Do you have any drills you can recommend to help enforce this? I’m having a huge problem not trying to muscle my throws.
@GladiatorDiscGolf3 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Something I've been working on before I throw each time is to do a few mock throws where my sole focus is on engaging my back at the start of the throw. Building this rhythm is important, and I find this extra step to be helpful. Alongside this drill, I also keep my arm super loose. Like just tight enough to hold the disc in the throwing position but not enough to be tempted to throw it. I simply allow my back to initiate the throw. You will feel it once you try it. Sounds a little strange beforehand!

Great Video man!! Been following for quite a while since last year! Enjoy all the videos! Keep it up! Looking more professional man! Love the intro for sure! Just get the transitions a little less jarring and youre looking pretty! Also on the idea of throwing with your back. It makes so much more sense now that i think about it. when you throw you a basically doing a row almost with your back, so just getting that mind/muscle connection there can make all the difference i bet! Im still trying to get my form right but i know ill get there!

Nice video, I need to get my back into my throws more consistently. On longer holes I definitely end up trying to muscle it there.

I swear this is true. I do field work a lot and can get them out to 360-390. Then when I step up to a relatively wide hole that’s about the same distance, I think oh welp need to crush this drive with all my might and end up getting 300-320 because I used my arm.

I'd suggest doing the commentary inside and save the outdoors for showing what you are discussing. That will cut down on the background noise.

Congrats on 6k subs, good luck with the website! In one of his recent videos, Ezra Aderhold said: "slow is smooth, smooth is not fast". 😁 You definitely need to be slow and smooth to engrain the feeling of proper form but you need to rotate your hips/back fast with proper bracing if you want to throw far. Just like in golf, if you want to hit the ball far you need fast hip rotation. kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJuWcoGEjNCDqbM
