I've been growing tubers for over 10 yrs. You did everything right, but if you had waited 4 more weeks to send her into dormancy the baby tubers would have been larger. You did not cause the rot, the mother tubers will always rot. The babies cannibalize the moma tubers for nourishment to grow. There not a thing you can do to stop that. It is how the plant has evolved. I wait till the plant is a little more dead before chopping away the foliage. Another 4 weeks and your baby tubers would have been larger. By the way I love your show. I did topicals 40 years ago but life and kids happen. Now retired and oh my goodness, the plants there are now available is mind blowing! You have been a huge inspiration for me! Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely Leaners 🙂

Beautiful plant, I may have to finally bite the bullet and get one. 🫶🏼 Update after watching through - I’m so impressed by your dedication to filming 2 months of timelapse from your table! And then editing it! Oh my gosh what a huge amount of work! I love things like this that span a period of time with updates. They are some of my favorite planty videos to watch, though I realize they take so much work and planning. Hello, Jan! I love watching your videos! Thank you for putting in the work to create such thorough and engaging content. I adopted your methods a year or so ago, and my indoor plants are thanking me for it. I’m getting ready to start an outdoor garden this spring, and was thinking- Dr. SPG could totally comment or advise on people’s outdoor spaces. Your video redoing Tim’s garden made me laugh so hard and made me think “I’d pay good money to have Jan make fun of the sticks in my garden.” 😂 I have a ton of space and I have a toddler so my life is the definition of ‘structured and chaotic,’ so bringing together a vision is tough sometimes. I think you have such an eye for design and you mentioned in a video a little ways back that you were looking for ways to keep your business going, so if you ever wanted to try your hand at garden planning/ design, just say the word! I bet I’m not the only one who might like to see what you think about their garden.

Hi Jan, I love your personality and your content, and I have learned soooo much from you. Short story: I was born in Aachen, Germany, many, many moons ago. When I started my plant journey, I used to watch your videos and initially I could not figure out why the expected Australian accent sounded like a German accent. I asked my son to watch you and he said "definitely German". 😊 I am extremely nitpicky about cleanliness and order, must be the German influence on me. 😬 I am Asian and live in the USA. Sorry, a long comment. Thank you for you fun, wholesome videos and you seem to be such a nice guy!

I’m renting as well, we have to get creative to put grow lights up, I got a mobile clothing hanger and on each top bar where you are supposed to have hangers, I placed bar grow lights, with cable ties, then macrame hangers and hung plants under the lights on each side, added a shelf of wood on the attached shoe rack and placed bigger plants under on the shoe rack, works great, and I can roll the whole works around if needed (to sweep underneath etc) There’s track bar lighting over our fireplace as well I put strong grow bulbs in for the plants on the mantle

I would like to see a propagation video. I bought two plants, about 5 in each pot. I killed both of them. There were no yams, and the leaves would dry up shortly after sprouting. The roots were hair thin and easily rot. I think if I try this again, I will need to procure some dormant yams. It's hard to establish this plant from a node propagation.
