KZbinr Motohiko Takeda was selling MIDI IF for it. Also, Korg SQ1 makes it more interesting. You can watch Synthesiser Dave - Episode 10 - Gakken SX-150 Mk II

It's an external effects thang, no doubt about it

Take the Gate Out from the SQ-1, to the Line In of the Gakken, then CV out to the stylus (tip of cable). Note: the Gakken isn't 1v/oct...it's 2.5ish. So you need to set the SQ-1 to 5v, and everything around noon or above in the steps sweep, will be your usable range. Cool side effect, everything below that threshold will retrigger the filter on the next note.

If that grey/black strip is a resistor then adding a keyboard to this would be a piece of cake I would think, then even more versatility. Cheap synths do sound so much better through some old guitar pedals!

I think they didn't want to be bothered to calibrate CV Because you're right otherwise

Oh yeah it's just begging for some pedal friends!

Connect the outer two legs of a potentiometer (try 1m) to the screws on the ends of the strip, with the stylus connected to the center leg of the pot. You now have a handsfree drone, with a more easily sweepable pitch...if you connected a switch you could accuate the drone as needed...if you connected several of that pot/switch set up in a chain, then tune each to scale, and played like a "normal" synth
