Since 2 years ago, I'm enthusiastic EUC commuter. These devices are fun, but a great alternative to using a car. I use it mostly to commute to my rapid bus station that is 3.5 kms (2.2 miles) from my home. I all started as an experiment, I didn't want to buy a car just to go and park it the whole day at the rapid bus station. I started commuting on these, to avoid taking the local bus. Now it is part of my daily commute all year around, even when it snows and rains. Since I avoiding buying another car, I now save that money (around 500 dollars per month). I really believe that this mode of transportation will become one day part of the public transit system. Public transportation, becoming personal transportation. Local buses is not a good solution for short distance commuting. Sometimes it takes longer to wait for the bus than the time you ride on it.

Good video like always in your reviews of these electric unicycles. You're still the only good tech reviewer that has taken electric unicycles seriously as a viable transportation device. Looking forward to when you will review the high end high performance electric unicycles of Gotway and Kingsong.

I ride a similar scooter by this manufacturer, and though I enjoy it I disagree about its functionality in typical city-riding use. Intersections are always dicey, because it's not possible to stop on a dime with this ride. Yes, one can slow down, stop, and step off, but re-starting by hopping back on the foot pads is not easy at all. My method has been to look for a road sign post or some other fixed object to hang on to while remaining aboard the scooter, instead of hopping off entirely. Then there are potholes. If I don't see one coming soon enough I will be ejected off this scooter when going into a pothole. So for this and the reasons above I agree with this video's author: a good bike helmet is recommended. I even wear a light motorcycle coat -- got tired of landing on unpadded elbows on concrete.
@AuthenTech7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the tips! How long have you been riding electric unicycles? In regards to the starting/stopping, I'd say keep practicing with mounting and dismounting. For me, it feels effortless and very quick/easy. As for the potholes, you're right! I guess those will throw off most other rideables as well ;)
@asdwinner12347 жыл бұрын
Got this scooter about 5 months ago. I would've benefitted from some good instruction -- lots of crashing for me. I never managed to learn how to hop on. My technique is to find something to lean on while placing my second foot aboard. Even if I managed to jump on successfully, I rarely got my feet symmetrically placed, leaving me with an off-balance feeling.
@asdwinner12347 жыл бұрын
AuthenTech - Ben Schmanke I dislike the speed control function, but don't know how to improve it. Whenever I accidentally get going too fast for the scooter it slows itself down dramatically, counter-leaning the scooter and nearly dumping me off in the process. I notice you're getting a top speed of 11 mph. The software that I use (it looks just like the one you demo for us) won't allow a speed faster than 6 mph. Am I missing something about the speed setting?
@segway7 жыл бұрын
Hey Jon, not sure which model you have but if it's similar to the One S1 you have to ride the unit for .6 miles after completing the new rider tutorial before you can unlock the speed limiter and reach max speed.

Did you have hold back that this entire video was sponsored by Segway until the very end? I'm trying to find some unbiased reviews on KZbin and when it comes to the end I find out I've spent five minutes of my life on what amounts to a commercial. Can you clarify what you mean when you say the video was "sponsored?" Did Segway provide a sample to you or are they an advertiser paying you to talk about the product?

After three hundred miles, riding the thing is effortless. If you're wide open, there's no reason not to multitask. It can be done responsibly. He probably could have said that it's controlled completely hands-free, but the gist is there.

It's essentially a solid state gyroscope chip, like the one that makes your phone sense tilt, connected to a microcontroller and a huge stepper motor. When the gyroscope senses the device tilt forward or back, it runs the stepper motor to compensate and bring the machine back to the zero point where the pedals are flat. It does this so fast and to such a fine degree that the whole thing rolls forward or back instead of pivoting around the axle. Slap on a 14" bike tire and some plastic trim, a pair of mag alloy pedals, some batteries and LEDs, and there you have it. JFM.

Hello Ben, I am so glad you are enjoying the ninebot one, as I did for over a year. After riding it for over 780km, it lost power on me suddenly three weeks ago. I have been going to physiotherapy twice a week plus massage every week, . At one point I thought these type of technology can save the world, but after the incident I feel that it really is not ready for the general market. Please be extra cautious on this machine because many more people have had the same problem so it is a likely event for all ninebot users.
