Played at Four Quarters arcade bar in Bristol;
Super Hang On - Real Arcade Upright Cabinet Gameplay. I had to overdub the sound in this as the music in the bar was causing a content ID match (it was a shite tune anyway).
As I started playing, someone started chatting to me from behind - one of my mates was in there and I hadn't seen him when I arrived, which is why you see me looking away from the cabinet a few times when I first start playing.

This is peak racing videogame to me. Literally the peak of the genre. It's got the most speed, the purest mechanics, the smoothest visuals, the finest music. God bless the FPGA devs who immortalised it on the MiSTer where the final revision Limited Edition Hang On is playable in its full analogue glory.

i first played this in yakuza 0, so it's nice to actually be able to see what the game looks like on real arcade hardware, thank you

Man, you are very lucky. I don't know how common it is to find these in the UK, but these classic arcade games are a rarity in the USA, especially in Alaska where they're practically non-existent. We do have Dave and Buster's and Chuck E Cheese's, but those arcades usually have more modern games.

Yeah, my city is pretty lucky to have a couple of decent arcade bars and some proper retro arcades in the city centre, which have all got a pretty good game selection.. On top of those there's also a bowling alley with a Sega Racing Classics (that also used to have a HOTD4) and a modern arcade that just happens to have an OutRun 2. There's another _massive_ retro arcade about an hour away in a small town.

Awesome stuff MT. I wasnt as fond of Super Hang on back in the day as i sucked at it. Once i learned there was a turbo button i was away and liked it much more!

I never saw a Super Hang-On in the arcade back in the day, but it was the first Megadrive racer I ever picked up and, oh man, I loved it so much.

It's an arranged version of one of the tunes from the game called "Outride a Crisis". This game has got an absolutely superb soundtrack.
