Yes, they had 13 members. The group debuted in 2005 as Super Junior05 with 12 members as a project with the intention of rotating members. A 13th member was added months later and the group redebuted as Super Junior in 2006, celebrating their 19th years in November. In addition to the 13 there are 3 extra member part of their Chinese unit Super Junior-M. So totaling 15 members. Super Junior contributed to many if kpops first with the largest number of members, subunit, foreign member, 100+ concerts, #1 for 2+ years on charts, international charting, international award, TV personality, radio personality, etc. Super Junior members took 10 years for all of them to complain their military services from 2009-2019. The members year of birn 1983-1988. So the numbers changed with each album. And yes they lost 3 members so the group is 10 with 1 on hiatus since 2014.

About the number of members: They started as a 12 member project group called Super Junior '05, six months later our maknae was added, the 05 was dropped from the name and they became an official group consisting of 13 members. There are currently 9 active members but Heechul doesn't tour because of his disability. He has a level 4 disability due to a car accident back in 2006 when returning home from Donghae's dad's funeral, where among other injuries, he shattered his left leg from hip to ankle and the doctors had to insert 7 iron rods in his leg. Even tho doctors said he could lose his movements if he didn't stop dancing, running, jumping, etc. Heechul pushed through the pain all these years (even bending the iron rod in his leg) until he had a bad scare in 2017 while preparing for Super Show 7. After practicing all day, Heechul went home in pain (nothing new to him) and after he sat down he just couldn't stand up and he thought he'd finally lost his movements. The crazy man still went on ahead with the tour but after that he didn't take part in any other tour and he also minimized his participation in promotions. He normally joins fanmeetings in Korea and Japan + group anniversaries tho. So that's why, if you keep exploring SJ, you're gonna see Heechul normally joins the group (both in mvs and stages) on the second half of the song and either dances very little or not at all.

Thank you so much for explaining the number of the members to us! We were, admittedly, a bit confused, so thank you for clearing that up. Why was Kyuhyun added after everyone else? And we are so sorry to hear about Heechul and his accident! I (Sabrina) can directly relate to having a disability after a horrific car accident, so my/our heart/s bleed/s for him. He must really love ELF and his members so much to push through all of that pain and risk permanent immobility 😭

@@hallyureviewsus Glad to help. If I'm not mistaken Kyuhyun wasn't even in SM when SJ debuted. He later won an SM voice competition, joined the company and was added to SJ. I'm sorry to hear about Sabrina's accident. I was involved in one myself back in 1995 and I'm still not over it. Btw, Kyuhyun was also in a car accident (along with Leeteuk, Eunhyuk and Shindong). It happened in 2007 (just one year after Heechul's accident) when they were returning home from a radio schedule. He was in a coma for a few days, had only 10% chance of surviving and the surgery would most likely take away his voice forever. Even tho Kyu's father was against him being a singer he didn't let the doctors do the surgery that could destroy his son's dream of singing and insisted they find another way to save his son. In the end it all worked out and our baby is still here with us 💙 PS: Sorry for the long comments, it's just both Heechul and Kyuhyun are my biases. Heenim is my ult, greatest love and Kyu is my baby.

Yes, we have discovered Teuckienickie's treasure trove of Super Junior videos, so we will definitely be living on their channel for the foreseeable future 😆 We actually have "The Crown" on our list for this weekend's reactions, as well as a couple of the subunit MVs. Next super junior (the crown) in ss8 And last super show is ss9 in the last year And we waiting to ss10 maybe in this year🤷 But they are now so busy with they subunits comeback and they are in many tv shows individually or together or drama Did you know they have first subunit in all k-pop name super junior (k.r.y) with the main voices in 2006 .

Thank you for that information on SJ's super shows! It's incredible to think they were able to have one last year. Bravo to them making a comeback (was it technically considered a comeback?) after the pandemic. That seemed to be tough for so many K-pop groups. We just started diving into their subunits this week! Is there anything in particular we should look at first for Super Junior - k.r.y?
