I'm realy starting to see a pattern that the leas you do the better the plants seem to be, but only if the soil/compost is good & alive. Biodiversity playing a huge factor, visually noticeable improvements in pest control too. Nature really does know best. 🤟💚

Last August I sprinkled a partial seed packet in a raised bed near my walnut tree, then Autumn rolled in and I completely forgot about them until 3 months later when it was time to rake up all the leaves. Under those leaves were the most perfect, sweet, crisp carrots I've ever grown. 🤣 As for carrot flies, have you tried companion planting with other veggies? I've had great success planting carrots with onions....carrot flies can't stand the smell. I've also had good success sowing carrots around around the base of pole peas & beans. Also, Ross, it's great to see you posting more gardening content again. 😊

I think next year I will be sowing small patches of carrots dotted around the allotment with alot more companion planting. I feel that's the way to go. 😁
