It's funny. The KZbin algorithm keeps suggesting other youtube photography channels. Don't they know that Marcus and Cara's channel is the only one worth watching ? Unbiased, expert advice, with an emphasis on practicality and value for money. Fun and engaging presentation style, and with a professional model who knows how to help Marcus show off the photography skills. A great combination, and good people.

i bought a pair of Pro Master LS-CT light stands that you displayed for use as combo light stands, camera mounts, and microphone stands. They do a great job regardless of what I use them for. Much lighter than my Manfrotto stands when I don't need to go above 5 1/2 feet. The Manfrotto stands go up to 12 feet each and I use them for stereo microphones when recording choirs.
@BlondieSuperdog3 жыл бұрын
the cheap last one also had a hook; this is the best way to add stability to your light tripod is to suspend a weight below on that hook. It puts stress on the legs and keeps it from wobbling so much in situations where you need to hold stable.

I picked up the carbon fiber Sirui travel tripod (I hardly ever use the tripod) and carbon fiber monopod with their “upgraded” ball head and they’re both pretty amazing. They’re a good value I think, not SUPER expensive but effective for sure. I shoot with an a6400, Tamron 18-300mm and Meiki dual battery pack, it’s an awesome setup for me

*I had a Pair of Manfrotto Tripods but Found that if I wanted to Do Top Down shots those tripods wouldn't be able to do this unless I Spend More, but Found out about K&F concepts Tripods and I bought 2 other them, One called the K&F tm2515t1 because this one allows me to Do Top Down Videos for unboxings and then I have the SA234 if I don't need to Do unboxing Videos and this works well for me. Love the K&F Brand*

My experience with the snap-to-lock leg locks is that they are more prone to snapping off. But as Marcus says, in the price range, they won't break the bank if they do break. I had a Manfrotto one that came free with a camera I bought when in Hong Kong. On it's second use, one of the log tabs broke off. So into the recycling bin it went. Then a year later I recount the story to the guy in the local camera shop. "Oh, Manfrotto have a lifetime guarantee". Oh no, I could have had it repaired/ replaced for free. One to remember !

Thanks, Markus, you solved one of my questions. That stability hook on your favorite tripod is a wonderful addition, I wish managers would add them to all tripods. Even without adding weight they are perfect for adding a length of Paracord and simply pin the line under your foot on the ground. I was just looking for a very lightweight tripod to use on my weekly hikes on our local mountains. My 4 and 5 pound tripods are too heavy when added to a 3 or 4 day great and food supply, but I need some stability for long exposures and the occasional selfie

I've been using a light stand for the past two months as a tripod because he mentioned it in his last video. I just got a pan and tilt head for it for like 15$and since it's one of those overhead light stands it comes with a bag for weights and I just throw in a water bottle. but he's really not joking when he says even three pounds adds up when you have to carry things for a hike or a prolonged length of time.

I know you said you're not interested in the Peak Design tripod, but I really love mine. It's a fantastic tripod. I personally justify the price because the ability for it to hold 20 pounds while also fitting into the waterbottle holder of my backpack is awesome. I know the tripods in this video are great, but the Peak Design to me is just the ultimate tripod. I've had many other tripods and none of them compare to me. I see it as a good investment because your camera practically lives on a tripod, and so especially since the Peak Design includes a lifetime warranty, you're getting a tripod that will last you through tens of cameras in your lifetime. I should also add that I've tested it, and the Peak Design tripod will hold a fully rigged out RED Komodo

Very useful video, as always. I love these practical tips. The little extension pole is perfect for my low end promaster travel-1. I have one question. If I am out in the desert and need one of those tall tripods, it seems as though I would also need a step ladder in order to focus the camera on what I want to take since I am only 5' 9" tall. Why not just get a Joby Gorillapod? They're light, they fit in a carryon and their only limitation is your creativity on where you want to put the tripod.
@christiangrant29313 жыл бұрын
Some people need the extra height and don't have a mounting point, also the gorilla pod is versatile but not super great at anything in particular, one of its biggest problems being that it can easily fall over. I personally think it's more well suited to video purposes than still photography.
@richinlukang70423 жыл бұрын
@@christiangrant2931 If you need more height, by all means, carry a taller tripod. But I think the title of the video was "Super Lightweight Travel Tripods..." I find tall tripods are difficult to put in carryon luggage. They also get tangled up in the brush and trees when hiking. I have a tall tripod, but it's not my "travel tripod." Using a gorilla pod wrapped around a tree limb, fence post or utility pole can compensate for the height of the big tripod that you had to leave at home. As for the gorilla pod falling over, I've never had that problem. Free standing, the legs should be splayed wider than what is mounted on top or the legs should be anchored. I'm always very mindful of the value and weight of the gear that I'm trusting to a tripod. Don't put your camera or phone or whatever on it if it's going to fall over. I was trying to suggest a cheap and versatile option that wasn't in the video. It comes in various sizes to meet almost anyone's needs from holding a cell phone or Go Pro up to holding a dslr. Gees, I sound like a salesman. Oh, I forgot, one last thing. Try using a regular tripod on a boat.
