At least Kirby's 20th Anniversary was a lot better. We got 6 classic Kirby games, new challenge Stages like the ones in Return to Dreamland, a random assortment of history lessons, and 3 episodes of Kirby: Right Back At Ya. I guess we could always hope that Super Mario's 30th anniversary follows that pattern instead. Plus the Wii U discs hold 25GB of memory, so I want every main series Mario title up until at least 64, but hopefully Sunshine too.

For the 30th anniversary of Mario: Have ALL the NES and SNES Mario games (even the Japan exclusives as unlockable content), all cleaned up and upscaled for 1080p with original NES graphics (SNES All Stars graphics as an option.) Throw in the Game Boy Mario Land games (colorized if you prefer, it's an option) and the Wario Land games as unlockables. ALL the Mario Kart games (put some on the second disc if you need to), and even Yoshi's Story and Cookie. Mario Picross games also, for the puzzle fans. Include soundtrack CD with the complete OST from every game on it (make it 2 or 3 discs if you need it). And also included is a hardback art-book with paragraphs on the Mario games' history written by people like Miyamoto, etc. All this stuff is packed in a hardcase similar to the Virtual Boy hardcase from Blockbuster, but with cool illustrations from every Mario game.

They could at the very least have included the GBA versions of Super Mario Bros 1-3. Make it unlockable like after you beat Super Mario Bros 3 (SNES) for example then you get the GBA edition (they coud have included the NES versions as well) and so on and so forth.

Sonic Mega Collection Plus. Xbox Classic. It's sad that Sonic, a series that hasn't done well at all lately released a better collection compared to this. It had comics, unlockable games, and even two Non-Sonic related games. AND they did games from both the Genesis and Game Gear. It only had one readable comic, yes, but it DID have a bunch of comic covers that can be viewed. It had artwork too. It's...kinda sad really.

Couldn't even be bothered to do a Modernized remake of Mario 1-3+LL? 16-bit was hot in 1993, but this is 2010. Giving the old games the "New" treatment or a modernized look wouldn't have hurt. It would've made the game hella more expensive, but this would be worth the price. It wouldn't have been completely awful if they had the Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World version of All stars, but apparently even that was too much to ask for of Nintendo. Happy 25th freaking Birthday, Super Mario.

I would have loved if they had the Mario episode of the old show "Icons" in there. My list of the games included should have been as follows: Donkey Kong, DK JR, Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros, Super Mario Bros SNES update, Super Mario 2, Super Mario 2 SNES update, Super Mario 3, Super Mario 3 SNES Update, Lost Levels, Super Mario Land, Super Mario Land 2, Super Mario World, Mario RPG, and Super Mario 64. Worst thing about all this is, they could've put all versions of all the NES-64, and the reboots and probably more. Because of dual layer discs, like how Monster Hunter, or even Brawl. It really is a shame that they didn't go crazy with this idea and made something amazing. I was quite perturbed by this as well, considering it wasn't even the SUPERIOR version of Super Mario All-Stars! My first experience with Super Mario All-Stars and Super Mario World both were in the combo cart that came as a bundle with the SNES, that featured the same games as All-Stars, but also included a superior version of Super Mario World that had its own unique Luigi sprite..that even Nintendo seems to have forgotten exists since they used that butt ugly Super Mario Advance Luigi stand-in for Luigi in the GBA Remake. They definitely could have done better with an ICON's anniversary..I mean at least they did better with Zelda, giving us Skyward Sword, an Ochestrated Soundtrack & Wii Mote bundle, the Hyrule Historia (though it took a bit for it to be translated and released)..

This was nothing more than a lazy cash grab. I got it one Christmas, and was mildly pissed because I had long known it was crap. I quickly realized it was even worse, as half the soundtrack disc is SOUND EFFECTS from Super Mario Bros.! The worst part is that in 2009, Nintendo released Metroid Prime Trilogy -- two GameCube games and a Wii game on a single Wii disc, with the first two games upgraded to the standard of the third. As such, *they knew what a Wii disc could hold*.

I personally wouldve loved it if SMB2 2J and 3 all had the voice clips present in the GBA version, and all that. With the soundtrack, more selection. This has been one of the best years for Sonic, since, well, ever.

The wiishop virtual console games are over priced. they are really great games but knowing how small these nes and snes game are is crazy, I think they should range from $1-5. It doesn't make sense, SNES rom are 1-4mb. And NES roms are 50- 400kb. Also back then wasn't it like 10 people making the game. With PSone classic you either pay $6or $10 and these game can be 500-1300mb, it was developed by +100 people;Also the length of games can be +30hours. I think Sony prices appropriately.

Nintendo has become very greedy. I know their games are awesome but they don't even have a "greatest hits" line and keep the full 50 dollar price forever. I remember going to target last year to pick up Mario Galaxy 2 and Brawl was still at $50 (Its still at $50 at Target and Gamestop). Also Mario Galaxy only got like 10 dollars knocked off but It was still at full price a month before Galaxy two came out. Mario Bros Wii is still at 50. I liked your ideas for the content. comics, interviews, super show clips, would have been a perfect way to fill up the disc and give the fans what they deserve.

I'm a huge fan of Nintendo as well as a huge fan of Sega. And for what Sega is doing for Sonic's 20th anniversary is a HELL of a lot better for what Nintendo did for Mario. Sonic Generations shows levels derived from 20 years of Sonic's existence spanning through three generations which are 'Classic, Dreamcast & Modern' and they can be played by both Classic Sonic and Modern Sonic. Also there's a hell of a lot more content being put into the game. THAT is what you call an anniversary collection.

I totally agree with this rant. Hell, they could have just released All-Stars on VC for eight bucks. Adding insult to injury... The ROM for All-Stars on SNES is 2.5 MB. If a DVD's maximum size is 4.7 GB (or 4812.8 MB (4.7 * 1024)), then potentially, there is as much as 4810.3 MB (4.69 GB) remaining space that sits unused on that disk. ...Wow.

I think ninty knows they botched this. Zelda had a great anniversary, Skyward sword, ocarina of time 3D, Zelda Orchestra at E3 and public, and the Hyrule Historia which took a while for it to be translated. Kirby's 20th anniversary was okay but not as bad as this. Year of Luigi was actually good.

I hope they make a Donkey Kong anniversary or something. They should include: - Donkey Kong - Donkey Kong Jr. - Donkey Kong 3 - Donkey Kong Country - Donkey Kong Country 2 - Donkey Kong Country 3 And the option to play these games in color: - Donkey Kong 94 - Donkey Kong Land - Donkey Kong Land 2 - Donkey Kong Land 3 And a slight possibility of: - Donkey Kong 64 - Donkey Kong Jungle Beat - Mario Vs. Donkey Kong I doubt Nintendo will include most of these games, but wouldn't be a bad idea since half of these aren't on Virtual Console, plus I'm not asking for too much (I'm especially not asking for pointless spin-offs)

They should have had a Super Mario Historia hardcover book to go along with the game when preordering your copy of it, along with the games that were on there, they should have included Super Mario World, Super Mario Yoshi's Island, Mario 64, Mario Sunshine (Doki Doki Panic for unlockable bonus game). They could have had a 25th Anniversary ANTHOLOGY! Every month, Nintendo could have put out a new volume of the anthology to make people buy into the marketing and anticipation of wondering what they were going to put out next for the anniversary series. All those that I mentioned would be Volume One, then Volume Two could have been ALL the Super Mario Land games that were on the Gameboy, Super Mario RPG, ALL the Paper Mario games, and the 2 Mario Galaxy games. (Dr. Mario and Yoshi's Cookies as unlockable games.) Volume Three could have been ALL the Mario Kart Games on one cd, (Mario Kart games from the Gamboy Advance and DS could be unlockable games). Volume Four could have been ALL the Mario Party Games (Mario's Missing and Mario's Time Machine as unlockable games). Then Volume Five could have been ALL the Mario Tennis, Baseball, and Golf Games (Luigi's Mansion as an unlockable game!) Such a waste...

super mario 1,2 and 3 and thats it? thats like if konamy decided to release a metal gear solid aniversary and decided to just put metal gear 1 and metal gear 2 and thats it, thats soo lazzy, you know what i would have done, put the best mario gaes of each generation , NES, SNES, NINTENDO 64, GAME CUBE, and WII and there you go, and y not have another collection that has all the mario games ever made, i know a colection like that would cost as much as a console but you now how many collectors and nintendo fans would kill to have a collection like that?

You know I felt like an even bigger schmuck when I saw the 25th anniversary edition of Dragon Quests 1-3 for the Wii and everything you got with that, and then I got pissed because it was on released in Japan and the Wii, I believe, is still governed under the DVD region, where Japan is a separate region, unlike the PS3 which is Blu-Ray where Japan and the United States are under the same region. I think I got more out of the Mega Man Anniversary collection and Mega Man X Collection on the PS2 than the Mario 25th Anniversary collection.
