Super Mario 63 is possibly the most iconic Mario flash game of all time. I always see people talking about this game when remembering flash games they played from their childhood. But what exactly makes it so special, and does it still hold up today? Join me for this in-depth review of Super Mario 63! I did not expect this video to end up being my second longest one, but hey, I guess I really like this game and had a lot to say about it!

Fun fact, at 13:29 you say Luigi can’t enter the final level. However by using the castle’s shortcuts you are able to skip the endless staircase letting Luigi play the final level

Sm63 is legit better than any "New Super Mario" game. Everything from the level design, the controls and mechanics, even the overall atmosphere of the game is incredible, and it gives me a lot of nostalgia. It's really good to know that there's still a lot of people out there who still care about the game. We can't let sm63 die!

Fun fact: The squirt nozzle that was present in Super Mario Sunshine 64 actually also exists in Super Mario 63. While it's not achievable in normal gameplay, with a bit of modding and some commands you can get it in 63 too. It is there in the game code, but it's just a concept.

I had the same feelings for this game when i was a kid and ohh i had so much fun with this game by finishing %100 3 times but i agree with the level of diffuculty,of course it feels so hard when you played this game for the first time but after the practice and by the help of fludd it become so easy but i still used to love this masterpiece Thanks for the video btw i just had a nostalgia trip with that 😊

I played this AMAZING GEM 7 years ago. I can reminisce on my first casual playthrough back then. I even tried a challenge, which is to 100% the game without using the FLUDD nozzles. This made it so that it would actually be better (even for speedrunning) to go to most of the skipped locations. Here are many examples The Yellow Switch and the trail of both Green and Yellow Blocks in Boo's Mansion The small platform moving right in Bowser's Second Trap Actually entering the second Cannon in Bob Omb Battlefield The long and intended path in Rainbow Ride Triangles The path in Tutorial 2 with the 3 Hover Boxes RIGHT NEXT TO EACH OTHER (lol) This list is by no means complete, there are many, many more places normally skipped in a 100% speedrun at sub hour level that we would ACTUALLY explore if we challenged ourselves to do it fuddless. That is why I decided to make that a challenge, despite how tedious it sounds.

I was playing this game during a time when 2D Mario started to repeat itself, and while I understand it was because of brand recognition, that wasn't an excuse for this level of blandness and uninspired set of themes, gameplay, and storytelling. And I had to wait until THIS YEAR, 2023, for 2D Mario to be on par with 3D Mario, when I had the feeling it should be like that regardless. So this flash game was sort of like the answer I was trying to figure out, for what that would look like. And just recently last year, a user by the name of Alex SMG had recreated the entirety of a majority of Super Mario 63's levels in Super Mario Galaxy 2, with a few bonuses like the Yoshi Level from E3 2009. So in the end, it wouldn't surprise me that someone out there would create another answer to something not just 2D Mario, but Mario in general, could improve on. And yes, I'm talking about narrative, there's plenty of room for improvement there.

I once stumbled across super mario 63, played it but i didnt know that i was supposed to go in the castle so i quit But after a few months i played it again and discovered that the game is much more than walking across a castle I played super mario flash before an official nintendo game and that remained for a year and then i discovered smw then discovered that these games are just fan games but i was still playing flash fan games like super mario flash, star scramble, and many others that i didnt play as much

I found jolly roger bay before my 10th sprite on my most recent playthrough (haven't played it in 5 years though so I didn't know jolly roger bay existed). It's not hard. Just look for inconsistencies in the walls.

You can enter the final level with Luigi You just have to take a secret passage called rocketing yourself into the sun that is over the 1-up painting secret stage using rocket nozzle :P
