Yeah, we all miss old smg4 in our own rights, but like all YT legends, once they become mainstream (2 mil subs) they have to adapt not for creativity, but for money’s sake. I feel like this FEELS like a Disney situation, a legendary entity, turned a greedy, soulless uninspired channel. As hard as we wish, we can never get old smg4 back, like some things on the channel like the 10th anniversary, you can deeply see that it wasnt focused on celebrating what we already have, we have more pointless lore shoved down our throats.

After 5 yrs of bloopers aka classic era its time to change to a new formula of smg4 to make the channel even more popular and for luke and kevin to make these types of content a career out of it after they graduated , by also slowly changing the target audience . 9 episodes consistent to each other and consistent plot wth a villian then ends wth a wotfi that new formula is called "the arc formula" and this was the birth of modern smg4 but not the modern smg4 era YET until 2019 and 2020 the twos year when modern smg4 rlly started to rise and not for the better ... Dark age era 2019 - 2022 : When muke and kevin created and found the glitch productions company yeah sur great animations series like murder drones and tari series , meggy movie i guess but yeha basically , glitch productions started to merge wth smg4 which lead to luke kevin their idea of being richer and wealthier by relying on making ads and sponsors to fund their company and puting the quality on glitch productions more than smg4which led to the heavy decline of the videos quality also ENTER the seriouss dark anime era of arcs starting anime arcs when smg4 started to heavily force their greed of being rich and popular restricting themselves in one genre , forced bad humor and , a bad mix of seriousness and goofyness which rukns the plot and creates plotholes , the heavy overexploitation of female characters especilly anime related stuffs , recastings of the smg4 crew to either throw away good characters or turn them into background characters especially the classic era characters , the start of bad humor , and sponsors ads after sponsors ads , like cmon we are so fed up wth this modern nonsense . The modern current day era 2023 present ( ACTUALLY just look at the "its gonna be perfect" movie when the place where all the adventures they went through just gone... 2011 - 2023 peach surrounded by ppl that stopped caring about her after the golden era and they let her die wth that malice monster and destroys her castle gee ..... thanks smg4 ) and now a new place new castle : Oh so the modern nonsense wasnt enough how about more recasts to replace good / old characters , redesign propaganda started , low efforts vids , rushed arcs , and after the shitty wotfi 2022 the redesign proganda became worse and its not a nintendo related stuff its to simply for money and merch that they started to scrap mario recolors in the smg4 universe . The fact that it was a casual comfort show. You never really had to worry about lOrE or ImPliaTionS. There was no worry about what next big bad was gonna show up and if anyone was going to die. It was just nonsense for the sake of nonsense, kinda like Spongebob. The funny was the goal, all that mattered. Touching moments were nice and the OCs were welcome additions that fit in. I genuinely didn't know Saiko was a OC until Tari too , I would just wait for every Saturday wondering "Oh boy, what dumbshit is next!" but now it's like "Oh boy, I wonder what dumbshit is next..." Putting characters through "character development" (Meggy) with no real end goal. It feels like SMG4 has fallen into that "my characters must suffer because it builds character" mindset. Thats why smg4 just fell off

Time for a story: Imagine an innocent, young kid who adored Mario and had the genius idea to look up to see if there was a Mario parody of “Who Let The Dogs out?” And discovered this video. Probably like many people out there, this was the first SMG4 video I ever watched. This video truly still holds up to this day, and that is remarkable for how a lot of older stuff gets left in the dust nowadays. I feel in a way this is also the perfect episode. Not too long, not too short. A simple, yet hilarious concept that is super quotable and accessible to literally anyone. Also the jokes and characters are totally on point. There is seriously nothing I would change. A true work of comedic art that should be shared from generation to generation.

It’s ironic, Luke wanted to increase the quality of his videos, but in doing so, he’s rather lost the main appeal of his older videos. While I don’t think SMG4 is bad, not at all, it’s one of the few things on KZbin to still feel rather the same over all these years. I wouldn’t necessarily say that I don’t care about the arcs, there wave been basically arcs in the past like with the Zstar and I really enjoyed the Waluigi arc. I think the best arcs are the ones that focus on the characters themselves. Character progression, however it is, is good and fits well in the style of SMG4 because it’s just like running jokes. They continue and evolve throughout episodes. And it’s not new to have running plot points throughout multiple episodes. However, I think the bad arcs are the KZbin and Genesis arc that focus more on lore instead of the characters directly. I don’t know who Zero is, they never show you Zero is so why should I care about what Zero is doing other then because it affects the other characters that I actually know. Why should I care that Axol died if he was already an underused character. They literally said it themselves that Axol has become an uninteresting character, just killing him off doesn’t really help with that much. Either create threads from characters we know about (preferably Mario characters) or flesh out new characters so we actually know about them enough to care
