I think the reason for that is that the poles would collide with the submarine, and the sub doesn’t go away until beating Bowser

You dont see the poles because you did not beat the second browser. I believe it may be an attempt to prevent you from getting the 70 stars required to go upstairs before you beat the second bowser. I am pretty sure I got all the stars I could and I was at 69 once I reached that dilemma. Doesnt really make a lot of sense considering you are unable to go upstairs until you beat the second browser, but probably a fail safe incase the developers missed something

Yeah, it's really NICE that the most you can get is 69 before swinging bowser by the tail the second time and saying "So long GAY Bowser" lmao. Was that a coincedence? but you 100% can still get 70 stars without this particular star before ever beating the 2nd bowser. In fact you can get 71 Edit: actually 72 if you count the red coins star in fire sea

The music and nostalgia ia great but the gameplay is clunky and the camera situation is nearly unbearable. The level design is bland and this level barely even makes sense. We're only playing because its nostalgic not necessarily a great game
