When I was watching the Zelda Randomizer Race, they said that they double check the seed before officially running it. They give the seed to someone who can check if it will take too long to do certain things and if it does, they do a different seed. I would assume Mario is the same way, even if it's not a race.

Niels Beun - Yes. It was over the weekend. It’s best to stay acutely up to date to see when the event takes place. It’s usually at the very beginning of Winter and Summer as far as I’m aware.
